About us...

We are a small family owned and operated farm in the Estancia Valley in the town of Moriarty, New Mexico. Our heart for growing spans many generations with Farmer Dean and his family being the 6th generation to farm in his family. The land being farmed currently in Moriarty has been farmed by the Schwebach Family for over 45 years. Our desire is to bring you high quality, nutritious,

non-GMO, local, conventional and pesticide-free produce. Each year we consider how we can better serve you by growing better produce, and this produce is grown with great care by each member of our family. History...

Farming has been at the heart of the Schwebach Family for many generations, six generations thus far. The Schwebach Farm in Moriarty, NM began when Farmer Dean was only three years old. His father Don and mother Martha came to NM on their honeymoon. After farming in the Estancia Valley with his father Eugene, Don decided to strike out on his own and leased/purchased the land now farmed by his son, Dean. After farming in Moriarty and serving this community for 35 years, Don and Martha decided it was time to retire. After growing up on the farm helping his father, Dean left to go to the University, graduated and began a career in public accounting. The desire for farming never left his heart and mind and thus when his father was ready to retire, Dean stepped into his shoes. Along with Dean came his city wife, Ivellise and two children, Nathan and Ellysia. Over the years, Farmer Dean's family has expanded to five children, adding Dominic, Adelaida and Thomas, and his city wife has become a farm wife and country girl. Together, our family continues the family tradition of farming with gratitude to our Lord for the beautiful land and life that He has entrusted to us, for the gift of being a farm family and the privilege of growing good food for our community. "So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase." 1 Corinthians 3:7

A beautiful morning at Red Horse BnB to plant the family garden.

We lay w**d barrier, as mulch, then cut it for our seeds and plants. Farmer Dean fertilizes with fish and kelp. Children and I dig holes and fill with transplants and seeds. Soon we'll set up manifolds with drip tape to water. This is the best way to grow your gardens and conserve water.

Traditionally we have always planted on Memorial Day weekend. Great timing for those in the East Mountains... a little behind schedule for those in the South Valley of Albuquerque.

Farmer Dean and his son-in-law, Adrian, put in the fence yesterday. Today, the children and I transplanted marigolds along the path as you walk out to the pasture. Red Horse BnB is the perfect place for your family reunions, weddings, or other events. Message to reserve. Need some respite? Book your room, sit beneath azure New Mexico skies in the shade of the cottonwood trees.

Where are we?
Many ask where are we... East Coast, Los Lunas or Moriarty? We're still in Moriarty, NM. While Farmer Dean works in Los Lunas, we are still in our community, searching for and waiting for guidance on where to live.
Today we continue cleaning up the farmland we have sold to The Bogart Family. Greenhouses are being dismantled and 60 years of farm living and growing, scrap saving (cause you never know when you will need it) need to be gone through and cleaned up.
Our friends work alongside us today on a beautiful New Mexico day. We hope to wrap this up by year's end.
We sure miss seeing you all!

A blessed Labor Day to you.
Psalm 90:17
"May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands."
This has been a different summer and harvest season for us at Schwebach Farm. We have missed growing, harvesting and opening the market for you!
Labor Day typically marked the middle of the harvest season, sweet corn season coming to an end and the beginning of bean harvest.
This Labor Day, Farmer Dean and boys enjoy a little field work, discing in last winter's cover crop. Unfortunately, we could not find a good working combine to thrash it. Perhaps winter moisture will cause the seeds we disc in to grow.
Our kind neighbors, The Bogarts, allowed us the blessing of harvesting berries. The girls and I reminisced as we picked berries under the beautiful blue skies and bright sunshine.
