Seven years ago, we took over 7 West Street and opened The Deli. Our seven year journey has been full of adventure, challenge, and change. Over the last seven years, we have been here through road closures, bridge outages, a nationwide pandemic and the staggering inflation that followed. We’ve worked so hard, day in and day out, to keep prices low, keep smiles on our faces, and keep serving fresh and delicious food to our customers; we’ve been successful in that endeavor.
We have taken pride in providing a place of community. We have served as a gathering place for townsfolk and people passing through. We have taken the time to make small-talk with everyone. Anyone and everyone who has walked through our door has been welcomed into our fold and we have enjoyed getting to know our customers, many of whom have become friends over seven years. Saying “do you want your usual?” to the same faces every morning was something we never took for granted.
Throughout seven years, we have gotten creative with our soups and sandwiches and we’ve forced you to as well. We've made homemade pestos, sauces, gravies, and so many jams! We managed to sneak our seasonal, homemade jams on to a lunch sandwich just about every day and the number of people who came back again and again to ask for “one of those sandwiches with jam” made us smile every time.
We’ve enjoyed coming to work every day because we truly have had fun for the last seven years. That’s why it is so hard to tell you that we are closing our doors. This decision has not come easily but after a great deal of thought and discussion, we have concluded that we are ready for a new challenge.
We will miss seeing our customers every day, we will miss being a gathering spot in Town, and we will miss being a part of your day.
It truly has been the most enjoyable seven year ride and we hope that you guys, our Deli Family, have had fun too.
With Gratitude,
Erica & Jesse
