It's Spring on the Farm, finally! The grapes and figs have been pruned and fertilized. Leaves and flowers are popping out everywhere. Us farmers are already worrying about the dry weather. The cycle continues. I hope you are all well and looking forward to the renewal we celebrate at Easter. I've attached a few shots from the farm to help cheer everyone up

So you've picked your grapes and you've eaten your fill. What do you do with the rest? Here's some suggestions: share with friends and neighbors, make juice, jam or jelly, put them in a freezer bag and freeze for later. Or, impress your friends with a grape pie. Or, muscadine wine. You might guess, correctly, that I have done all these things. I'll be glad to give you some pointers on any muscadine project you might undertake! If I can do it, you can, too!

Fig lovers! This has not been good weather for fig fruit. Too much rain makes them split open and also taste watery. That's where we are right now. All hope is not lost, however. If we get a few days without rain, the remaining unripe figs will swell and ripen. Keep your fingers crossed!

Time for a grape report! My muscadines are on course for a big crop starting around September 1. I have both the purple and bronze types. They are 16-22% sugar. They make great juice that freezes well. Muscadine grape jelly and jam are truly exceptional. And, of course, many like them for fresh eating. Not sprayed with anything in the field. They are netted to keep the birds away. Still only $5 per gallon. Message me for an appointment. Share this page with your friends!

Ripe figs are here! By appointment only. 8 or 9 am this week due to the heat. Message me for a time slot. You can expect to pick at least 2 gallons of figs at this beginning stage. Celeste figs, large honey figs, and Brown Turkey figs are ripening now. I'll help you pick. No ladders necessary.
