The opening of this new facility comes as Tyson Foods announced closures last week of some operations in the face of near-record-high prices for cattle. Klobuchar said those closures makes it all the more important to have facilities that can fill in gaps.

“When I hear that big places are closing, I think, well, we need more small places to fill in here,” Klobuchar said.

Congrats to our friends over at on the grand opening of their new processing facility in Staples, MN. The new facility will process beef, pork and sheep for Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd and Wadena counties. When we build robust community-based food systems, we are creating strong, resilient, and interconnected communities.

It's been a long journey with many lessons, amazing resources and passionate people. Now the real meaty stuff gets to happen!!

Pictured is 213 & 215 E. Main Street. The Meat Processing will happen downstairs. This weekend we celebrated our accomplishment with a great meal and good company.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! We have a building! After YEARS of hard work, dedication, and collaboration, we are thrilled to announce that we are finally purchasing our very own building!

This milestone represents not just a physical space, but a home for our community, where we can grow, create, and innovate together. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey – your belief in our mission has made this dream a reality!

Pictured here is the processing space located in Mt. Horeb!! Soon it will be full of the equipment we have secured over the years.
