Happy Saturday, y’all! It is May 23rd, and we are already rolling into Sweetgrass Mercantile with our first major drop of the day. We are working hard to make your Memorial Day weekend easier, more delicious, and full of all the things we love to see at a good Southern barbecue.
We are whipping up tons of key lime pies and huge batches of homemade banana pudding layered with homemade whipped cream and Nilla wafers. We’ve got beautiful trays of baked macaroni and cheese ready for your oven — layered with hand-grated cheese, heavy cream, and grass-fed butter. Comfort food at its finest.
Today we are stocked with:
Homemade potato salad
Macaroni salad
Chicken salad
Tuna salad
Cucumber & onion salad
Mediterranean pasta salad
We’re also making local chemical-free shrimp quiche with smoked andouille sausage, plus our crab quiche favorites. We’ve got homemade chicken pot pies, hand-sliced tomato pies topped with hand-grated cheese, and homemade salad dressings ready for your holiday table.
The farm pantry is packed full today with farm eggs, pasture-raised chicken, and our new selection of Duroc heritage pork including pork chops, pork ribs, and pork roasts. The freezer is absolutely loaded down with peeled and deveined local chemical-free shrimp ready to throw straight on the grill this weekend.
Hannah is pulling fresh sourdough from the oven as we speak and will be delivering all of your favorites this morning — plain loaves, cheesy loaves, focaccia, and of course those famous sourdough chocolate chip cookies sprinkled with sea salt.
We’ve also got fresh hummingbird cakes in the market today along with gumbo, vegetable minestrone, and creamy tomato basil soup.
