A farm can never have too many chickens, amirite?!

Today we brought home 4 Olive Eggers to add to our rainbow of eggs!

This brings our egg laying flock up to 45 hens and 1 accidental rooster from our batch of early spring chicks.

Last year we installed only 1 hive with the hope of leaving the honey in order to have a thriving colony over winter into this year. Unfortunately, the girls didn’t make it through winter so here we are again…

Max is a turkey whisperer! Ok, maybe not. But we’re still excited that our 10 turkey poults arrived today!

This will be our first year raising turkeys… yes for meat (bittersweet) but are thankful to be able to care for, raise and harvest our own food, especially in time for the holidays!

More like “demo for the rest of our lives” 😅

This lovely 20 yard dumpster was delivered last week and already we’ve spent the past couple of days slowly filling it… we’re making bets on how many days it will take to hit capacity. Any takers?!

Well, in true Justin and Samina form a new year means jumping into another project… and this 6 acre 1900s farmhouse fixer upper will be our biggest project yet!

We are still looking to sell pasture raised eggs and poultry this year and hopefully produce at some farmers markets - but we’ll be taking a break from CSAs while we renovate our new forever farmhouse!

Stay tuned for all things fixer upper and farm living!
