So according to the folks keeping track of these things…

Wichita is having its 2nd driest July-August on record since 1888, with Eisenhower Airport receiving 0.75 inches of rain.

For comparison, the average is 8.28 inches.

And August? A whopping 0.75 inches so far.

At this point, the Dust Bowl is starting to look at us like, “You guys need some help?”

I’m not saying it’s dry, but if a cloud goes overhead, everybody stops what they’re doing and watches it like it’s a UFO.

The ground is so dry we’re one strong wind away from having to label the farm “historic.”

Anyway, if you see me standing outside washing the truck during a 10% chance of rain, mind your business.

I’m trying to get us another quarter inch. 🌧️😂

🎃🌽 LIMITED HOURS TODAY... BECAUSE WE'RE HERE FOR A GOOD TIME, NOT A LONG TIME.

As the song goes, we ain't here for a long time, we're here for a good time... and apparently that applies to the farm stand today. So we're open, just not all day. If you want something, you might want to mosey on over before we disappear like motivation on a Monday morning.

Also, can we talk about how everyone lost their minds this week over pumpkin spice everything? Pumpkin spice coffee, pumpkin spice candles, pumpkin spice air freshener... pretty sure somebody's working on pumpkin spice motor oil.

So if we're all going to pretend it's fall while it's still hotter than a goat's armpit, we figured we'd help you commit to the fantasy.

Apparently we should probably post something.

It’s been a while.

Long enough for Dolly Parton to pass away, the moon to have an eclipse, and several people to probably assume the farm stand had gone out of business.

We hadn't.

We just haven't had anything to put out.

It turns out an empty farm stand doesn't make for much of a Facebook post. We could've posted a picture of an empty table and said, “Fresh air available today,” but we decided to wait.

Well, we finally have a few things again.

So, the stand is stocked with what we've got. And before anyone asks...

Yes, we have eggs.

No picture of them, of course. We may be getting back into the produce business, but let's not expect miracles all at once.

We’re gonna be a little light on produce again today, so if you see something you want, you better grab it. Because coming back later is a bold strategy around here. 😂

What’s out is what we’ve got. When it’s gone, it’s gone — and Farmer Steve will be standing there looking at the empty table like he’s just as surprised as everybody else.

Apparently I forgot eggs existed until after I took the picture. 🤦‍♂️

If you’ve got one of those empty salsa jars and you don’t know what to do with it, BRING IT BACK. 😂

We’ll take those off your hands. Apparently around here, even the jars have a return-to-farm program.

Come get what you can before the produce disappears and Farmer Steve has to start selling compliments instead. 🌱😂

🥵🌽 FARM STAND UPDATE: SUMMER 1 — FARMER STEVE 0 🌽🥵

We are CLOSED TODAY because this heat has officially gone from “Kansas summer” to “who thought this was a good idea?” 😂

The crops aren’t particularly fond of 147°* weather either, and the weeds seem to be the only things out here absolutely loving life.

So we did what any responsible farmers would do… we went to Old Settler’s Day and found somewhere to cool off. 😂

And let us just say: small businesses support small businesses! ❤️

If you’re heading to the rodeo tonight, grab your food at Old Settler’s and take a little stroll down to FlappyDuck Brewery before you go. Kids are welcome, bring your food in, cool off, grab a delicious beer, and enjoy the live band from 5–7 PM.

Their staff has been fantastic and welcomed us in when we needed to escape the Kansas oven. So from our little farm stand to their little duck pond—THANK YOU! ❤️❤️❤️

Now go support them before you go watch people voluntarily ride angry animals. 🤠😂

Riddle me this…

What do you get when you combine a medallion hunt, a bunch of grown adults wandering around town staring at the ground, and Farmer Steve deciding that finding a piece of metal is suddenly more important than putting vegetables on a table?

Apparently… a closed farm stand. 😂

We got caught up in all the excitement of the Mulvane Medallion Hunt and completely forgot about the little detail where we’re supposed to actually OPEN THE FARM STAND.

The clues were flying, people were digging, everybody was suspicious of everybody… and somewhere along the way we apparently misplaced our ability to remember what day it was. 🤦‍♂️

So today, the stand is CLOSED while we bask in the glory of absolutely nothing productive.

🔎 The hunt may be over…
🥕 The produce stand may be closed…
🏆 But the questionable decision-making continues!

Well, Kansas decided to send us a rain teaser this morning. 🌧️

Not enough to actually help anything, mind you. Just enough to make everything wet, humid, and give the weeds another reason to celebrate. Because apparently the weeds have better connections with the weather department than we do. 😂

And now for today’s big announcement…

SCHOOL BUS DRIVER STEVE HAS RETURNED TO THE WHEEL. 🚍

That’s right, folks. Farmer Steve has been promoted to “Guy Who Drives Other People’s Kids Around.”

So if the farm stand is a little late getting out, a little slow getting stocked, or Steve appears to be running on approximately 14% battery… you now know why. 😂

We’ll get it out when we can, keep it stocked when Mother Nature cooperates, and continue pretending we have some sort of organized operation happening around here.

Same farm. Same chaos. back to the old job. 🚍🌽🌱
