The BBQ sauce is starting to get some traction. We are starting to be in a couple stores in KY, small stores, but it's being ordered.

The motivation or message we want to convey to the final user is... our lives are made better by people who work hard with their hands, perhaps smell a little ripe, and know that black tape slows bleeding and if you are going to lose a tool.. it's going to be a 10mm.

If you know you know.

I have reached out to people I know, and I think they think I'm kidding about putting their face on a jar, but I'm not.

If you are in a business who works hard with your hands, farming, lineman, construction, running a dozer, electrician, whatever, I'd love to put your name and face on a jar.

And you get 6 free jars with your mug.

Here is what I want:

1. Email 5-10 photos to [email protected]. Usually send 3 or so at a time due to size limitations for most email providers. I need high quality, not stuff ripped from a website, it won't print right.

2. I need a message, you motto. Don't overthink it, give me something to work with.

3. Tell me your story, just short, so I can get a feel for you.

4. I will send you a photo release to sign and return.

5. I'll get it into production and send you 6 free bottles.

I make all decisions... If we are slow or don't select you initially... it's Robert's fault. Me.

Here is what I don't want:

1. This isn't a marketing opportunity for someone to pose in a hat with company logos. I get it, but it's about people, and the effort... not organizations. So I'm the one who decides and I'm not putting websites and call for a free quote. That's not the message. Just want to be clear.

2. Set up shots. Please no. Just snaps, things of him or her working. I used my son first, I have cool pics of him breaking stuff, cutting stuff and setting things on fire... I think that's what welders do... mostly.... and I need a new face...

3. Give me time, we are making BBQ sauce about twice a month, and our season is slowing significantly in the next 45 days.

So... if you are a sparky, wire twister, t herder, tin knocker, wood butcher, spark ranger, mud slinger, ground pounder, grease monkey, gearhead, deckhand, ironhead, shovel jockey, timber beast or roughneck...

consider it.

If you are a blister, ornament, part changer, motion light, trapdoor, slinky or a pothole... well... we'll think about it..

Stay well all, and we hope to recognize some of you who work your tail off doing things people either won't or can't.

Working on BBQ sauce today, apple pie bourbon jam, Kentucky Candy... the usual and we are trying to get geared up for Christmas. We are going to try to get more Christmas Jam done this year also.

Going to be a busy weekend.

Friday and Saturday we'll be at the Discovery Park of America in Union City, TN for the 2026 Davy Crocket Homestead and Bluegrass. We were invited last year and again this year. There are lots of demonstrations, special meet and greats for authors, a great interactive museum and I've read, you bring an instrument and jam with the musicians, entry is free.

Current entry fee is $29.99. Kids half-ish price. I don't want anyone showing up and thinking it's free. They do a beautiful grounds decoration, the management and staff are really wonderful and are there to serve. If you haven't gone, it's worth a trip, I know several of you have annual passes.

Also Friday at 3:00pm one of us will be at "The Ritz" in Paducah KY at 2201 Broadway St Ste E, Paducah, KY 42001. Our friends at Touch of Fudge, LLC, have opened a retail location for their products and have invited several of us Kentucky makers to be in the store for sales. At the grand opening event there will be sampling and a "meet the makers" session so you can learn about what is there.

Saturday... we'll be at the Murray Downtown Farmers Market from 7-12. Second to last market... stock up.

There will be more opportunities before year end, but our production slows considerably. Some things may not be available... but if not, just ask. We'll do our best.

Doing a short run of pear products today. We got some Baja carrots sticks and Kentucky Candy done yesterday with Donna, our part time helper.

Today-----

Pear honey, pear bourbon, pear ginger (we think, low on ginger) and pear vanilla.

These are D'anjou pears which popular locally due to the climate here, Bartletts by comparison usually come out of the west coast, California, Oregon valley and Washington.

D'anjou pears cook a little better than Bartletts do.

We tell people a lot, pear is a neutral flavor, but it carries other flavors very well. The pear bourbon is a lot like peach bourbon, bourbon forward. The ginger pear carries the ginger well and is great with cheeses or morning faire.

The pictures are from previous years when we were allowed to pick them local. After scrubbing, they are cooked generally with the skins for flavor, and then we have a sieve machine that separates the final pulp. We then add seasonings and the jammin' items, can them and into a box.

We certainly have followers for these products, we made them because you asked. It will only be available for a short time.

Thank you everyone who came to the Trigg County Hamfest in Cadiz this weekend.

Friday really was a great day. You know we run on seeing people, and we saw a bunch from past years', music was good, hung out with other vendors we don't see much...

Maybe had a couple ham sandwiches... and the weather was great. Paula's favorite time of the year.

Today, Saturday, until 1400 or so.. decent... and then, well it sucked. Walking all the product out to the shuttle van, and then 5 of us pushing the trailer up the hill onto the car hauler... thank you more than you know. We didn't want to sit around until 11 to be able to drive in.

Music was awesome though as we were packing up.

Thanks to everyone who came out.

To the couple who drove 1.5 hours for Kentucky Candy and we had just sold out, despite staying up til midnight making more... We're sorry.

To our Pear honey lady.... pears were ordered for monday and maybe... maybe will have some at the Murray Downtown Farmers Market next week. but middle child is in town from Houston mid week... and she's old enough we can't just tell her, "we're canning today..". ...or... no... no... I like being married.... :)

To my KC Chiefs' fan who stopped by again.... at least you aren't as bad as the Raiders... but that's a pretty low bar...

See you tomorrow and Saturday at Hamfest in Cadiz. We are a little more up the hill than usual, they moved everyone up a bit, due to a business that wanted to be open. Same area though. On the west slope between the food trucks on top and the carnival on the bottom.

Friday looks great. In fact, b...e...a...-utiful as Jim Carrey would say in Bruce Almighty....

Saturday looks like trouble in the afternoon....

You might be shopping from behind plastic....

You might be shopping from inside the shuttle van...

We might build an Ark.... idk.

but barring a complete shutdown, we should be there.

We will restock the silo at 1844 Douglas Rd. Murray, KY in the morning. Paula is still working on Kentucky Candy and it's after 9pm, and I'm labeling BBQ Sauce and that too, when it's done.

All orders at www.kentuckyfreshjam.com are out the door. We'll be having a wholesale site sometime next week as we've been asked by several of our nationwide boutique stores. It's for stores only, and screening is required. We are finding we are not doing a great job stocking store shelves due to time constraints and need to be more direct.

Hamfest is alot of fun, they really have a lot of events, and it looks good until 300ish Saturday.

We will see you this weekend at the Cadiz 50th annual Hamfest Friday and Saturday. We will not be in Murray.

This week, strawberry margarita, strawberry lemonade, Kentucky Candy, Apple Butter, Apple Pie Bourbon Jam, Kentucky Hard BBQ sauce, and...

Blackberry.

Seeded and not seeded. I think we have a long term solution for this to help keep it in our inventory. We work really hard to get all seeds out, we have machines to help separate it. Is it perfect? no, but 99% are gone. Just heads up if you have issues.

The blackberries are pretty flippin' good, by the way.

Hamfest is run a little differently, in a good way, lots of activities and they are reaching a different clientele. If you haven't been in a while, it's got a little different feel. More festival, less carnival. I think this is our 7th year? After dark about 1/2 of us vendors are still open, many go home. All the activities and rides are going, but many vendors are 1-2 person shows and it's long days.

Some activities, like the rides cost money, but most is free. For food, especially the ham related.... get their early, it doesn't suck... and if you know Robert... that's rule #1.

Stayed up late again last night. Got to spend some early time with the chunk-a-monk. 9 month old little wiggler..
