Sure it is getting cooler and a tad bit dreary out but guess what?.. we still have strawberries! These pints are up for grabs at Little Red today and all week.. we are home today so can keep replenishing if these sell out. We also have blueberry honey, fresh batch of honey in the comb, eggs, strawberry jam, Bartlett and Asian pears, Satsuma plums and fresh batch of bottled lard too! What happy turkeys sound like. We are now taking reservations for Thanksgiving. These girls have a good life on pasture enjoying green grass, bugs, over ripe orchard fruits and their nongmo grain ration from Thistle Family Farm out of Eugene. Hi friends we will be at Umpqua Valley Farmers' Market tomorrow with lots of Asian pears from our orchard. The Asian pears do well without spraying and they are so extremely sweet and juicy. Come try a sample for yourself. We will also have some delicious satsuma plums and a few strawberries we were able to pick between rain storms. Eggs and a fresh batch of rendered lard also available.

Each Saturday at market we are taking deposits for our pasture raised Thanksgiving turkeys. If you have any questions or want to reserve one come see us tomorrow :)

Happy September friends! Little Red is open even in the rain but we do want to remind you all if you stop in please please use extreme caution when entering and especially when exiting. We live on a very busy highway and although speed limit is 45 mph nobody drives that. We are happy to see you we just want to keep everyone safe! Hope you all have a wonderful day and hooray for some liquid sunshine!!!

We haven't seen many of you lately but we are still here and we still keep setting up hoping someone will pop in! Today we have freshly harvested honeycomb from our hive, satsuma plums, Asian pears, blueberry honey, strawberry jam, no corn, no soy eggs, lemon cucumbers, peppers, melons and of course we are still picking our everbearing strawberries on the rows we left. In other farm news our Thanksgiving turkeys are growing beautifully. On these warm summer days they love lounging under the sprinklers and eating the pears and apples that fall off the trees. Well.. we had told many of you that we would have more upick strawberries sometime this season. Unfortunately instead we learned a hard/expensive lesson about planting plants too close. We crammed those strawberry plants in close rows on tight spacing in hopes of getting an even larger harvest.. to maximize the small area we have for growing. In return the plants grew so large, tangled and so packed together they did not have space to flourish or set fruit. So we have made the decision to go through and pull out all the plants and start over. This means not only buying new plants but also the more expensive woven w**d barrier to plant into. Lesson hopefully learned that less plants will be easier to maintain and harvest and yield much more. We will be planting and planning for next year's upick!

We did plant several rows on a single file spacing and those plants have been producing like crazy. We will be putting the whole patch on the same spacing. W**d barrier will be reused for crops like garlic that can be planted closer together :)
