Picture of delicious creative Nanticoke Pagash Pie from our neighbors for the algorithm! 🥔🍕📸 (im a hair away from doing a podcast episode on the time I spent a paycheck on rushing Kluski noodles for Haluski from Poland via Brooklyn only for the complainers to say they hated them 🤯)
What are you giving up this Lent? Or maybe, what are you doing a bit more of?
May we suggest: patience for small business owners of all kinds, but especially those specialty food businesses in NEPA?
Day after day we’re seeing the comments pile up on their pages, community pages, personal pages. And since we don’t have any skin in the game, we’re going to say something that was important to us when we worked early mornings, late nights, with slimmmm margins— because ingredients aren’t cheap and our workers deserved to be paid as much as they could— BE NICE.
This day and age people are writing whatever crosses their minds into the ether, and we know from experience, it’s taking a toll. You don’t have to write everything you think, especially the negativity towards some of the hardest working people we know.
So, if you know a hard worker, a teacher, someone in the trades, pharmacy staff, someone who deals with a lot of customers, a medical professional, someone who is working more than one job to make ends meet (which we had to do), gas station attendants, take your pick! PLEASE pay your kindness forward in their honor and stop being nasty. Because, when they go out of business, or in our case, choose to go out of business, we will certainly miss their cultural, handcrafted, homemade, from scratch food. Support small business this Lent by keeping some of those inside thoughts…. Inside. ❤️ Or at least PAUSE AND REFLECT before you choose to post.
