👀THE HORSES HAVE OFFICIALLY TAKEN OVER!!🤪

They’ve:
• Rewritten the lesson schedule (more snack breaks)
• Declined to clean their own stalls
• Promoted themselves to “Head of Hay”
• And broke their tack

But HONESTLY…Without our volunteers, things might look a little like this.

Our volunteers keep the barn running, the horses cared for, and our riders safe, confident, and thriving. 💛

It’s National Volunteer Month, and we are beyond grateful for the humans who make the magic happen every single day.

There’s lots going on behind the scenes at Mahnke Orchard! We are in the first phase of reducing the orchard and expanding horse pasture, trails and community space to serve the growing mission of Lily Creek Farms. The first step is removing about 75% of the apple trees.

Thanks in part to grants from the Defiance Area Foundation for horse run in sheds, fencing and pasture improvement efforts. And with the incredible sweat equity from a village of volunteers, the master design plan is finalized and the trees are down. The downed trees are in the process of being turned into wood chips which ultimately will become apple wood liquid smoke. Stay tuned for more updates!

📣 Today is our last official day open for the season at Mahnke Orchard!
While today marks our final scheduled open day, we will still be around over the next few weeks—just in and out. If you’d like to stop by, we strongly recommend calling ahead for an appointment so we can make sure someone is here for you.

We have partnered with Henry County United Way to provide Angel trees to families in need. These live Christmas trees will bring Christmas joy to those who would be unable to have one otherwise. For our last week of business, we have dropped the cost of the Angel trees to only $25! Please consider donating and bringing some holiday warmth to every home possible!
