Mountain People's Coop Member-owned and operated since 1979. Serving our mountain community with over 40 years of dedication Mountain People's Co-op is member-owned and operated.

Mountain People's Co-op started as a food buying club in the spring of 1979 with ten members. We distributed bulk orders from the front porch of the Mountain Community Center every two weeks. In 1981 we moved from the Community Center to 26 East First St, which is next door to our present location and began selling to the general public, slowly expanding to being open seven days a week. In 1993, w

ith generous member support, we purchased that building. Our greatest achievement as a membership came in 1995 when, with another tremendous amount of work and cooperation from our membership and community, we purchased and renovated our present home! Decision making rests with a Board of Directors chosen by the general membership as well as input from committees and membership suggtions.
