Last week I took a few days off of work and did an internship to finally learn to make caramels. This was my very first batch. My dad let me do everything from start to finish except for lifting up and pouring out the product because the entire store and all the equipment and everything about it is completely formatted around my dad‘s body mechanics and he is half a foot taller than me and we felt it could end in a very sticky disaster. I’ve always been very intimidated to do this, I hate cooking, and I wasn’t sure I would be able to do it, but my dad stated “you have a masters degree and I assure you this is not rocket science.”

Hey folks! We are still closed due to my dad’s injury and as far as I can tell just about everyone is out of caramels at this point. I think he might be back at work in 3-5 more weeks but it is hard to estimate. Thanks for your patience and your supportive messages and calls. If anyone knows of a business that still has some in stock feel free to comment:)

Hello everyone! Wanted to give you an update. Most of you know my dad is a sole proprietor, and yesterday he missed a step on his front porch and had a pretty serious fall and broke his hip. It was repaired today and he will likely be going home tomorrow to recover. He probably won’t be making any caramels for quite awhile and our retail location will be closed until further notice! Thanks for your understanding and thanks to the first responders at Nehalem Bay Fire and Rescue and the staff at Tillamook Adventist Hospital for the amazing support.

This weekend is the 40th anniversary of Sarah Jo’s Candy! It also would have been mom and dad’s 50th wedding anniversary so were unsure we would feel like celebrating, but come in this weekend and we are giving away a free caramel with every purchase. Thanks again for your support these past 40 years.
