Is spring here yet? Nope.

03/10/2026

One of our favorite signs of spring here at NE-Leigh Farm—the sound of Canadian geese and ducks flying north over the Nebraska prairie. After a long winter, it’s always a welcome sight and a reminder that warmer days are just around the corner. The calves are settling in, chicks will be arriving soon, and another season on the farm is beginning. Safe travels on your journey north.

We were recently contacted by the Koinzans, a wonderful local farm family who has been following our progress here at NE-Leigh Farm. They reached out and let us know they had two calves — a heifer and a bull — that we could purchase and raise. We were incredibly grateful for the opportunity and their trust in us.
Since then, we’ve added three more calves (one heifer and two bulls), and we couldn’t be more excited about growing our herd.
This step forward would not have been possible without the generosity, support, and kindness of the Koinzan family. We are truly thankful for their encouragement and belief in what we’re building here.

We’re excited for the new year at NE-Leigh Farm.
Our first broiler chicks arrive at the end of this month, with pasture-raised chickens expected to be ready near the end of May.
We’re also now taking pre-orders for 2026 pasture-raised pork. Next month we’ll be bringing home newly weaned feeder pigs to raise on pasture. Processing is anticipated for late October to early November.
Our pigs are raised outdoors on a rotational paddock system and hand-fed twice daily. Regular moves to fresh ground support animal welfare, natural rooting behavior, and soil health through managed nutrient cycling.
Pricing will be posted soon. We are working hard to stay as close to last year’s prices as possible while continuing to provide premium, pasture-raised meat raised without hormones, steroids, or antibiotics.
If you’d like to reserve broilers or get on the list for a whole or half hog, send us a message.
Thank you for supporting local, regenerative agriculture in Northeast Nebraska.

Stephanie, and I, are proud to sponsor a fellow woman farmer and friend to attend this conference. It’s an incredible opportunity for women farmers and ranchers to connect, learn, and share their experiences.

We hope the word continues to spread — this is a conference worth every penny.

We’re excited to see the new Regenerative Pilot Program launching through the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)!

Here at NE-Leigh Farm, regenerative agriculture isn’t just a trend — it’s how we care for the land every single day. From planting cover crops to rotating livestock across our pastures, we’re working to build healthier soil, stronger grasses, and a more resilient farm ecosystem.

As a veteran-owned family farm, stewardship means leaving this ground better than we found it. It’s encouraging to see programs that support farmers who are committed to long-term soil health and conservation.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with NRCS and growing forward — one pasture, one season at a time.

It was an honor to hear and meet keynote speaker Gabe Brown at this year’s Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society annual conference in Norfolk.
Gabe is a true pioneer in soil health and regenerative agriculture. His work with grazing, multi-species cover crops, and working with nature—not against it—is a model we strive to follow here at NE-Leigh Farm.

We’re so thankful our pigs made it safely to Albion Locker in Albion, Nebraska with minimal stress. Watching them load and unload so calmly was a big relief! Thank you all for your support and for following along this season — we can’t wait to share next year’s journey with you.
