It has been a while since we (Alan and Jo) have communicated to you, but we feel that we need to reach out and let the community know more about the status of the farm. We have always viewed Riverhill as a vital part of the community and understand that many of you have come to think of it as ‘your farm’. This is a sentiment that we encouraged and cherished while we owned and operated the farm.
As most of you are aware, we sold the farm nearly two years ago and we have since moved into Nevada City. The farm was purchased from us by an old friend, Tracy, who was motivated to give us the opportunity to retire and to keep the farm in operation. We will forever be grateful to Tracy for helping us to make this challenging transition. Unfortunately, Tracy has recently experienced an unforeseen turn in her life and now needs to sell the property.
The recent farmers, Kyle and Melanie, were in the first year of a two-year lease with Tracy, a lease which would have been legally binding on a new owner. While discussing how to make this transition work best for Kyle and Melanie, Tracy offered them the option of a long-term lease of any duration, to be included in the terms of a sale. Kyle and Melanie have instead chosen to leave the farm and move closer to their families in the Chico area, where they are beginning a new farm. We wish them well in their new endeavors.
The farm has gone on the market this week. Our hope is that Tracy will find a buyer with a desire to see it continue as a community farm, but this is not a certain outcome. It is a special place that deserves a special destiny. We only hope that the next inhabitants will treat it with the love and respect that it deserves.

We could not have been more fortunate than to live on this beautiful land and to farm in this wonderful community for the past 20 years. We thank you all for the years of support that you have given to us and to Riverhill Farm.
In gratitude and appreciation,
Jo and Alan
