Meet Betty. Betty's babies were born yesterday. First chicks of the year! Present chick count: 2
It will be interesting to see how many more chicks we get this year.

Another swarm was caught in a swarm trap. Very cool stuff.
I was far away while videoing as the bees were not happy, But it's the best thing for them. I would like to mention that both swarms that have been caught were wild bees, not our bees abandoning their hive, which makes it so much cooler!

Happy Spring Everyone!! The fields have been flipped and it's almost time to get back at it. We have made the decision this year not to participate in a Hometown Farmers Market New Boston. It's a great market. Please go check it out!
We will however be posting when we have vegetables, eggs, and honey for pick up at our farm. We are presently taking orders for sweet corn and any other vegetables anyone may need.
We are conducting an experiment this year with wheat. Is a specific wheat strain called Emmer.

Emmer is a hybrid species of wheat. Along with einkorn, it was one of the first crops domesticated in the Near East. It was widely cultivated in the ancient world, but is now a relict crop in mountainous regions of Europe and Asia. Emmer is one of the three grains called farro in Italy.[3]

It's that sad time of the year when we harvest sunflower seeds and everything is mowed down for the year.
Fun fact, we have been planting the same sunflower seeds for roughly 10 years.
If anyone is interested in placing corn orders for next year, please get in touch with me so we can prepare our seed orders.

When you think it's hard to make kids go to bed, you should try convincing a duck to go to bed.
PS.. How now brown duck has raised her chicken babies and is still staying with us. I adore this duck.
PSS... She moved home 😭💔
