God's Grain Bin, a Christian-based food pantry in New Castle, Indiana, is named after God to reflect its mission of serving as a vessel for His love and provision to the community.

The name choice is rooted in several key factors:

Mission of Provision: The founders—started the organization in 2007 with a vision to show people God's love by meeting their basic needs.

Biblical Symbolism: The term "grain bin" (or granary) evokes biblical stories of divine sustenance, such as Joseph storing grain to save Egypt from famine (Genesis 41) or the "grain offerings" described in scripture as voluntary gifts of gratitude to God.

Christian Identity: As a faith-based nonprofit, the organization views its resources—including the food it distributes—as gifts from God meant for His purposes.

Community Support: The pantry functions as a "shining example" of community unity, relying on volunteers and donations to ensure that "no one goes hungry"

Thursday, May 7th - National Day of Prayer 🙏

Head to God's Grain Bin between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM to serve as a volunteer or receive support. Since the pantry is 100% volunteer-led, helping during a "Walk Thru" is a tangible way to put the day's prayers into action.

Key Facts About Food Pantries

The "Retailer" Role: In the hunger relief world, a food bank is like a wholesaler that stores food in giant warehouses, while a food pantry is the "retailer" that distributes it directly to the community.

"Hidden Needs": Items like can openers, cooking oil, and salt are some of the most requested yet least donated goods. Families often receive canned food but may lack the tools to open or season it.

"Volunteer-Powered": Across the Feeding America network, nearly two-thirds of food pantries operate with no paid staff at all, relying entirely on volunteers

Looking back on our operation of 2025, we could never put into words how much our volunteers mean to us. It takes a special breed of people to volunteer their time without asking for anything in return. I am not going to try to list every volunteer that is working or has worked here, as I am sure I would forget to mention someone. If you volunteer here, past or present, we say many many thanks.

I personally want to thank Owen Wyatt, President of God's Grain Bin for being the main overseer of the pantry's Operational Division. (Prayer for Owen as he works not feeling well and won't take time off to recoup). Thank you goes to Ron Davidson, Logistics Manager of the Transportation Division. Both of these individuals put in 40 to 60 unpaid hours per week.

A thank you to our donors and others that make our operation a success.

A thank you to our clients for that shared smile, a shared laugh, or simply your continued trust, you remind us why we love what we do.

We acknowledge that talents, resources, and opportunities are gifts from God, to be used wisely for His purposes.

I am going to insert a few pictures to show what we did and/or what our place looked like during 2025. I am David Hall, author of this article and I run the Financial Division.

Enjoy the pictures, mainly of Warehouse 2.
