Participating in Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) encourages you to try new foods and eat with the seasons. CSA shares reflect the natural changes during the year. For a veggie share, this will look like crisp leafy greens and crunchy radishes in the spring, robust-flavored tomatoes and juicy melons in the summer, and root vegetables like carrots and sweet potatoes in the fall.
With community support, CSA farmers often have the ability to experiment with new crops and interesting varieties, allowing you to try new foods that may not be available anywhere else locally. With more traditional CSAs, farmers curate your shares to reflect the best products they have to offer during that week or month. This means each share is a new adventure. For less adventurous eaters, some farmers create market choice shares where you get to choose what you want from the available products. Regardless of the style, most farmers will include recipes or other tips to inspire you to get the most out of their products.
