Thanks to our customers and friends who enjoyed our sweet corn. In just one week we harvested six different varieties of bicolor sweet corn; Solstice, Signature, Xanadu, Cosmic, Octane, and Stamina. Today, Monday, we started over the field for a second time, harvesting the smaller ears. We included 14 ears for a dozen and charged the season price of $4.00 per dozen. We will not pull corn tomorrow, Tuesday, but will have one more day of selling corn on Wednesday. We have plenty of potatoes and other vegetables. Tomatoes will be ripe soon.

"Old-timers" used to say, "New peas and new potatoes by the Fourth of July",------well, we must be old-timers. Crops look pretty good at this time.

Thanks to all of you for the interest in our pick-your-own strawberry business. We now will renovate the berries and hope for a berry crop for next spring. Other crops look good at this time: potatoes, cabbage, Roma, green, horticultural, and lima beans, cucumbers, squash, sweet corn, blackberries, and pumpkins. Have a great summer. Remember our Sunflower Festival August 9 and 10.

We still have a few strawberries-----we will open Monday morning, June 16, as usual at 10:00 am weather permitting. We close each day when we have no customers.

Monday, June 9, plenty of strawberries

Thanks to all the strawberry pickers that came to our farm today. All the ripe berries are picked! We will not be open Saturday due to possible rain and the lack of ripe berries. We will be open Monday morning, June 2. We have a limited supply of berries this year. Last year's planting of 2000 plants failed due to the dry summer and verticillium wilt disease killed half the old field-----such is farming.
