Fresh to You is a student-run vegetable farm located on the University of Delaware South Campus!

Market day is here! We will be in front of the Fred Rust Ice Arena from 3-6pm today!

Corn is still here with the addition of Grade B corn that just has some damage at the top of the ear. Cut it off and you’re good to go for eating or processing! $4/dozen only by the dozen!

Grade A corn is still available as well! Bi-color, and white!

🌟Spotlight on Yamilex Hernandez! 🌟

Yamilex is a rising senior at UD majoring in plant science! 👩‍🌾🟦🟨

Yamilex started working at Fresh to You in the spring of 2026.

🏡Hometown: Wilmington, Delaware

🌱Favorite vegetable to grow:
Yamilex likes to grow tomatoes; they’re the first plant I’ve transplanted here, and I love seeing how tall they can grow to be in the high tunnels. 🍅

👩‍🍳Favorite vegetable to cook:
Yamilex likes to cook with sweet potatoes; they’re a super food and they taste great. 🍠

Possible farm mascot 🚜
A green bean; we’ve been harvesting them all week and they taste great! 🫘

The most valuable skill Yamilex has learned during her experience at Fresh To You is being comfortable asking questions and being receptive to unfamiliar information and farm lingo!

We are holding our weekly market today from 3-6pm down in front of the ICE RINK on south campus. In addition to all the produce you see above, we’ll also be selling CORN!🌽

🌟Spotlight on Mikaela Gaskill! 🌟

Mikaela is a 2nd year graduate student at UD obtaining her master's in Plant and Soil Sciences! 👩‍🎓🟦🟨

Mikaela started working at Fresh to You in May of 2025.

🏡Hometown:
Omaha Nebraska; Mikaela was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma! 🐂

🌱Favorite vegetable to grow:
Mikaela likes to grow carrots; they smell amazing when you harvest them and I only like the carrots we grow on the farm, nowhere else! 🐹🥕

👩‍🍳Favorite vegetable to cook:
Mikaela likes to cook with tomatoes; they’re versatile to cook with and I’ve always grown up eating them around my family. 🍅

Possible farm mascot🚜
Groundhog; we see them all the time, but we never manage to catch them! 🐹

The most valuable skill Mikaela has learned during her experience at Fresh To You is how to operate large farm vehicles without issue! 🛻

Unfortunately, we need to cancel our market today due to the weather!

We will be back next week weather permitting!

Next week will be a big week with watermelon and the long awaited CORN! 🌽 🍉

🌟Spotlight on Jennifer Wells! 🌟

Jennifer is a senior at UD majoring in Sustainable Food Systems. 🟦🟨👩‍🌾

Jennifer started working at Fresh to You in the spring of 2026.

St. Paul, Minnesota❄️

🌱Favorite vegetable to grow:
Jennifer likes to grow peppers; she likes to pick them off the plant for a fresh snack! 🌶

👩‍🍳Favorite vegetable to cook:
Jennifer likes to cook with onions; they’re versatile vegetables that can be thrown in a salad raw or sauteed in dishes to help improve flavors. 🧅

Possible farm mascot and why? 🚜
A rabbit; I see them every time I drive into the farm, and we have a family that lives on the farm too. 🐰

The most valuable skill that Jennifer has learned with her time at Fresh To You is proper time management. Getting things done in an organized and timely manner, no skipping ahead to and getting off task.

Wayne is a rising senior majoring in Sustainable Food Systems at the University of Delaware. 🟨🟦👩🏻‍🌾

Wayne has been working at Fresh To You since this spring of 2026.

San Diego, California. 🏖️

🌱Favorite vegetable to grow:
Wayne likes to grow brussels sprouts; he thinks the plants look really cool when growing the sprouts. 💚

👩‍🍳Favorite vegetable to cook:
Wayne likes to cook with tomatoes; you can add them to just about any dish to make it better and even make a sauce. 🍅🥫

Possible farm mascot and why? 🚜
A watermelon; it’s a great symbol for summertime and the small farm. 🍉

The most valuable skill that Wayne has learned with his time at Fresh To You is resiliency. Everyone needs to attempt to master this skill. I undertook the Tahoe 200 in 102 hours!

Our wonderful students will be in front of the Fred Rust Ice Arena from 3-6pm!

Many of the plants are starting to provide! New this week Raspberries (limited quantity) and Eggplant!

Rinat is a senior majoring in Sustainable Food Systems at the University of Delaware. 🟨🟦👩🏻‍🌾

Rinat has been working at Fresh To You since the spring of 2025.

🏡Hometown:
Silver spring, Maryland🦀; currently living in Newark.

🌱Favorite vegetable to grow:
Rinat likes to grow tomatoes; she always loved the smell of tomato plants because they remind her of summertime. 🍅☀️

👩‍🍳Favorite vegetable to cook:
Rinat likes to cook with hot peppers; they’re easy to add to any dish for an extra dash of flavor and spice. 🌶

Possible farm mascot and why? 🚜
Groundhog; there’s a love-hate relationship with her. She’s a nuisance but has been a familiar face and makes the farm unique. 🐹

The most valuable skill that Rinat has learned with her time at Fresh To You is companion planting and learning about ecological interactions between different plant species. Companion planting creates a biodiverse environment within your garden and fosters a healthy ecosystem.
