Please join us in congratulating Jaymes Wassmuth, the new Manager for Newport Farmers Market! If Jaymes looks familiar, it's because she has served as our Assistant Market Manager since joining our team last fall. During that time, she has become a familiar face to our vendors and customers, bringing enthusiasm, professionalism, and a genuine passion for our market.

Jaymes grew up on a 15-acre lavender farm in Siletz, giving her a firsthand appreciation for agriculture and the dedication it takes to build a successful small business. As a former market vendor and a longtime tax accountant in our community, she brings a unique combination of entrepreneurial experience, organizational skills, and a commitment to serving others.

Jaymes is excited to advocate for our market and continue promoting the importance of local agriculture, handmade goods, small businesses, and the community connections farmers markets create. We're excited for the future of the Newport Farmers Market under her leadership.

The General Assembly of the United Nations has declared 2026 as the year of the Woman Farmer ~ We are proud and honored to have many women working in agriculture at our market ☼ This week we are highlighting Kendall from Single Fin Farm. She and her husband Joss and adorable son joined our market last year and have quickly become favorite farmers! Here is Kendall's story.
"I fell in love with farming instantaneously. There is nothing more gratifying than planting and growing your own food and that satisfaction is magnified now that we get to share our homegrown produce with our community. Farming is a lifestyle where my days are spent outdoors, moving my body, touching the earth, and, most importantly, teaching my son how to plant and grow and eat good, nutritious food. My husband and I started farming full time after our son was born. We wanted to prioritize having time to spend as a family and working in a way that brought us joy and towards something we felt proud of. And although market gardening at our current scale has come with a fair share of challenges and lessons-learned, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else."
We are so grateful the plants and soil called you so strongly! Thank you for sharing your fresh local regenerative grown greens and veggies with us! You can also find their greens at Oceana Natural Food Cooperative Find them on Instagram

The General Assembly of the United Nations has declared 2026 as the year of the Woman Farmer ~ We are proud and honored to have many women working in agriculture at our market ☼ This week we are highlighting Shelby of Bullfrog Blooms Farm ☼ This is her 5th season with the market sharing her beautiful bouquets ☼ Here is her story ~
"I’ve always enjoyed nature, but I realized I wanted to be a farmer after I WWOOFed in Ireland for 3 months in 2016. After farm hopping, I moved to Oregon and worked for the lovely Fry Family Farm in Medford. I realized there that farming flowers made me the happiest, and moved to Toledo to start Bullfrog Blooms Farm in 2021! Starting and maintaining a flower farm by myself has been quite a challenge, but I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished. I hope to continue growing and sharing beautiful flowers for a very long time! I aim to be as waste-free as possible, so I offer customers $1 off a bouquet if they return a jar! Anything pint sized and larger is my preference."

Thank you Shelby for sharing your flower blooms ☼ We see the love in your bouquets!
