Covino's Groceria Italiana The streets of this little community were lined with restaurants, delicatessens, butcher shops and bakeries.

In the not too distant past, in a section of Brooklyn know as "East New York", there was an Italian enclave where recipes and cooking traditions came straight from Italy with the people who migrated there. The people of this Southern Italian village demanded the best and all of the food venues catered to this group of discerning consumers. While the wives and the "grandmas" ruled in the kitchens,

the men prepared special meals for each other over discussions of politics, business and a few card games at the "Social Clubs". The Covino family was firmly entrenched in this mini-society.
