WHAT DO YOU SELL?
Currently we sell around nine different varieties of fresh mushrooms as well several different value added products which include jerky, seasoning, mushroom tinctures and other mushroom related items.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO MUSHROOM FARMING?
Hunting for wild mushrooms has been a passion of ours for as long as we can remember. In 2020, we began exploring mushroom cultivation to provide our family with a healthy, homegrown food source. That passion quickly grew into Midwest Mushrooms, where our mission is to share fresh, nutritious mushrooms with families throughout our local communities.

WHO ARE INVOLVED IN YOUR BUSINESS?
We are primarily a husband and wife operation, however we have several family members who help with various items as needed.

WHAT IS ONE THING THAT YOU WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
We wish more people knew about the many nutritional and health benefits of incorporating mushrooms into their diet. Educating our community is an important part of what we do, and we’re always happy to share how we grow our mushrooms and talk about the incredible biology behind them with anyone who wants to learn more.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR MOST POPULAR ITEM?
Our fresh mushrooms are the number one item, more specifically Lions Mane! However our Spicy Mushroom Jerky is climbing the ranks.

WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU ARE EXCITED ABOUT FOR YOUR BUSINESS IN THE COMING YEAR?
We are excited to continue to broaden our reach to other communities and increase our wholesale options to restaurants. In addition we are working hard to expand our ability to produce value added products with a focus on that delicious jerky. We also have a couple other product surprises we are working on. 🤫

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF BEING A VENDOR AT THE NORFOLK FARMERS MARKET?
Besides the amazing downtown energy, our favorite part of the market is seeing our customers each week and welcoming new ones. We truly value every person who stops by our booth, and getting to know the same families and familiar faces week after week is what makes the market so special to us.

WHAT DO YOU SHOP FOR AT THE NORFOLK FARMERS MARKET?
With so many amazing vendors, we still haven't had a chance to explore every booth. We especially enjoy finding delicious treats and local food items, and we're always looking for ingredients that complement our mushrooms and make a meal even more memorable.
