We like to grow and try new things around here. Like these black spanish radishes. A large heirloom variety that packs a spicy punch. Although the skin is black, the inside is completely white!
Its always a good idea to try and grow new things to see what works best for you and your area. No two gardens or gardeners are alike and what may work for others, may not work so well for you. And vise versa.....

Chantrelle Mushroom season has arrived and I will be actively hunting them to bring to the Norman Farm Market again this year.....

We are going to bring a pretty good salad mix to the Norman Farm Market tomorrow.
Its 5 different kinds of lettuces, kale, arugula, red mustard and broccoli leaves all mixed up into one spicy mix. See ya there!

Where is foraging legal you might ask? As of May 21st, 2025 SB447 made it legal to forage for Personal Consumption on state owned or state managed property, as it should be.

Pictured,
1.Mullein for respiratory issues, Smoke it, make a tea, its antiseptic, the flowers make a good tincture for earaches, natural toilet paper, etc.
2. Persimmons. The leaves make a good tea, the fruits are edible in the late fall after they ripen(Usually takes a good frost)
3. Wood Sorrel. Has a lemony tart bite. Good in salads, sandwhichs, etc. Or a trail side nibble.
4. Eastern prickly pear cactus. Pads and fruit are edible but pads must be processe to remove spikes, (use fire)! Good in tacos.

These are just a few examples of natures bounty that are available as food/medicine.
The door is now open to access these and others. Especially now with high food prices, inflation and dangerous processed food additives. If you have any questions feel free to message me.

Foraging for American lotus to bring back and grow out. Almost every part of the American lotus plant is edible, including its roots, stems, seeds and flowers.
There is a whole world to discover out there, you just have to get out and start looking....
