We take pride in providing local small batch honey to the Lincoln and Omaha area. Our mission is to preserve the essence of every flower the bees visit. We do this by harvesting small batches several times a season, cold processing, and packaging in glass bottles.

It's May 16 and the main honey flow is only a few weeks away. Here are a few minor nectar sources blooming today at Country Road Bees. Nectar from the Wild Mustard and Dutch White clover is most going to building colony strength. Will this bee the year for Black Locust Honey? I hope so. I'll know because it is nearly as clear as water. USDA Grade is Water White. Very rare around these parts. If you have a high density of this blooming near you, let me know in the comments.

I'm sold on compost rather than store bought fertilizer. Feed to soil, not the plant. Chicken manure is too hot to add directly to a garden. By this fall, the straw and yard waste will be broken down into a soil building, plant growing, wonder. Who needs petroleum based fertilizers when you have chickens.

Happy Mother's Day everyone! Chickens are mothers too so we surprised them by cleaning the coop. Our reward? Happy chickens and Brown Gold Compost.

We just dropped off asparagus at the North Bend Mini Mart ! Picked no later than last Friday, it is fresh and tender. We hope to restock again on Friday but this week's cooler weather may limit availability.

Best Native Flower for bees in Nebraska? Goldenrod is the State Flower of Nebraska and an excellent food source for native bees and pollinators in late August into September. It also out competes weeds.
