In the tiny South Carolina island community known as Wadmalaw Island...the HUM Grocery at Historic P.M. King’s is a special place where you can shop, eat, and feel the past of the Lowcountry all at once. This small, 950-square-foot grocery opened in 2021 inside the old P.M. King’s Store, a building that served locals for many years just outside Charleston. Today, the shelves are filled with local produce, jarred goods, snacks, craft beer, and wine, all chosen with care. The food is a big reason people stop in. Favorites include the chili dog topped with WadmaSLAW, smoked BBQ sandwiches, and their well-loved chicken salad. You’ll also find homemade casseroles that change often, plus hand-painted hats made by the owners. Friendly, laid-back, and full of island charm, HUM Grocery still feels like a true community gathering spot.
