We're picking again! Open this Friday, September 11 from 11-5, and Saturday and Sunday from 9:30- 5:30.

Currently available...

🍎 McIntosh, Cortland, and Empire apples. Yes, things are running a bit ahead of typical.
🍐 Bartlett, and Seckel pears
🍇 Niagara and Concord grapes!

It's early yet for Concords, but many people have been asking. If you like them sweeter, wait. They'll be in season for weeks and will continue to gain sugar.

I do not plan on having retail fruit available in the barn this weekend, we will be posting regular, consistent hours very soon. There is a lot of work to do, and then a lot of fruit to harvest. 🚜

Update! The farm is saturated due to recent rain. We're going to hold off opening until Sunday morning at 9:30. It's simply too wet to have cars in the orchard. Let's hope for sunshine.

The barn will be open for u-pick this SUNDAY, and MONDAY (September 6-7) from 9:30 to 5:30.
Full time hours and lots more picking opportunities are right on the horizon.

Pears! 🍐 The first of the season. We'll be in the barn Saturday, August 22 from 9:30 am to 3:30 for u-pick Clapps Favorite pears. Sweet and smooth, perfect for snacking , sauce, or baby food.

11 am update. SOLD OUT

Peaches are back on the menu! 🍑
We'll be in the barn for another round of u-pick peaches this Saturday, August 15 from 9:30 am until 12 noon.
There's a good amount of peaches to be picked. But.. if the picking moves as quickly as it has been recently, you can expect a sell out before noon. 2 bushel limit per household.

We have news from the peach orchard! 🍑

We will be open for our first Redhaven u-pick this Wednesday, August 5 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. We will be insisting on a 2 bushel limit per household as we have in years past.

The weather forecast differs every time I look. We do allow picking in the rain, but never during periods of thunder and lightning.
⚡️ IF the weather changes and it's stormy, we'll move our picking time from Wednesday to Thursday.
To clarify... plan on Wednesday and check before driving to the farm just in case.

There will be peaches that are ready, but MANY more that need time to size up and ripen. With the high demand for peaches, we have found shorter picking windows works well for us. This allows a more controlled season where our trees can balance their fruit load. A few days and a little rain does make a difference.

Redhaven peaches are coming soon! 🍑
We estimate we're approximately a week from opening. Hopefully, the peaches remain firm until Saturday morning (August 8) If not, we may need to host u-pick on a weekday evening. We're definitely keeping a close eye on these beauties.

We're very pleased to have a nice fruit set, but peaches will sell quickly, as they always do. All sales will be by u-pick, I will not have pre-picked fruit in the barn. I'll post all the details as get closer to picking.

Hi, Friends. Is anyone interested in SOUR cherries? 🍒 I know you've been watching for news regarding a 2026 cherry harvest, and I'm sorry to have kept you waiting. The truth is, the news is bad and I've had a difficult time deciding how to proceed.

Our trees blossomed early, slugged through a cold, wet blossom season, and were given exactly one good day of pollination weather. We estimated a 25- 30% fruit set. A widespread April deep freeze took our entire sweet cherry crop. Pennsylvania declared a State of Emergency. Since then, we've dealt with unseasonably hot and humid weather, frequent rain and wind storms, and even hail 😬. As I watched our situation go from bad to worse, I strongly considered not opening for cherries. BUT... Somehow, despite the weather, we do have a decent number of SOUR cherries. It would be shame to waste them.

So, we invite you for u-pick SOUR cherries this Saturday, June 27 starting at 9 am. We won't call this a season, we'll call this an event. How long we'll continue picking is impossible to predict, but I know it won't be long without the draw of a sweet cherry crop. I repeat, we have ZERO sweet cherries this year. The sours we do have are worth picking.

All 2026 cherry sales will be by u-pick only. We will not have pre-picked sours in the barn. Expect you may need to carry, set, and stand on one of our provided ladders. We strongly recommend picking with a partner for the sake of safety.
ALL PICKING IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. No smoking, no pets (seriously, leave them at home), no tree climbing is permitted. Do wear solid footwear and bring containers.. buckets, dishware, Easter baskets, whatever you may have, or plan to purchase a picking basket. I have a limited number on hand.

Check in at the red barn at 11820 Middle Rd in North East, Pa BEFORE visiting the orchard. The price will be $3.00 per lb, the same as our starting 2025 price. I'll consider reductions in price for large quantities. We accept payment by cash- preferred, check, Farmer's Market Nutrition Program voucher, plus all major credit and debit cards including American Express.

This is it! One last 2025 u-pick weekend. We'll be in the barn today and tomorrow, October 11 and 12, from 11am to 5pm.
🍇 Available for picking are Concord, Niagara, Steuben, and a small number Catawba grapes. Also the very very last of the Bosc pears. 🍐
Quite a few pickers hunted for apples last weekend and they are now sold out. 🍎

🍋 If you ordered quince, they are packed and ready for pickup during this weekend's business hours. Jason is confident he'll have some extra baskets of quince available for retail sale.

Another weekend is on the horizon and a last call for tree fruit! We'll be open Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5 from 11- 5 for u-pick Concord, Niagara, and Steuben grapes, the last Bosc pears, and the very last of our 2025 apples.

I hesitate to list apples as being available because they're in very low supply. It wouldn't surprise me if they were entirely picked out before the end of Saturday. Bosc pears are as tree ripe as their trees will allow and are starting to drop.

Grapes are still hanging nicely, so we'll continue to pick this weekend and next (Oct 11 and 12) and then call our season to an end.

We'll be u-picking again this Saturday the 27th and Sunday the 28th from 11 am- 5 pm. Available for picking are Niagara and Concord grapes, Bosc, Seckel pears, and Winter Nellis pears, plus a scant handful of apples.

🍇 Grapes look great! We expect to be picking for several weeks.
🍐 Bosc pears, like our earlier Bartlett crop, look nice! Now is the time. Seckel are high in the trees and are ok, but esthetically not perfect. Nellis have more "heavy" texture and are nice to store for later eating. I predict we'll be picking pears this weekend and maybe next.
🍎 Apples... I'll just repeat my sad message regarding apples. The majority of our trees failed to bloom due to 2 consecutive spring droughts. For every decent apple we do have, we see a handful that are not nice. We're considering this apple harvest a gleaning, maybe even a salvaging so that our trees can rest. Next year will be better. If you plan to attempt apple picking you'll find a few Empire, Northern Spy, Jonagold, and now Idared apples. It is crazy early for Ida, but we don't see much of a benefit in waiting. Idas were our heaviest cropper this season and the picking is decent. No Honeycrisp or Mutsu in 2025.
