I can’t believe it’s September!

Today we want the highlight a few squashes that we have available this fall.

The first is tromboncino. An unusual looking squash with a very long neck. See pic below. This squash is incredibly versatile with a subtlety sweet flavor. Picked green it can be used as any summer squash and allowed to deepen to a yellow color it is used like a winter squash. Everything from grilling, breads, salads or soups.

The second is the Blue Hubbard squash. It’s a large bumpy winter squash with a very hard exterior.
Often dropped to crack because it’s almost impossible to cut with a knife. It has a sweet, rich almost nutty flavor. It can be used for sweet and savory dishes. Not only does it pair well with cinnamon and brown sugar, it also goes well with chipotle, chili and cumin. They can hold for months under the right conditions. They also make for unusual fall decor.

We will have limited quantities of Blue Hubbard this season.

Cucumbers are at the end of the season. Just a handful left.

Green beans are picked out. We should have a new batch in two to three weeks.

Today we have yellow squash, tromboncino, Blue Hubbard, eggplant, lots of hot peppers, honey, some larger zucchini for bread and a couple of cherry tomatoes.

Pumpkins are turning orange and all the squash is looking great. Only about 8 weeks left in our season. The ber months are here. At least on the calendar 📅.
