🌱 Garden Tip of the Day (save this one!)

🌱 I’d rather be planting 🌱
BUT it’s 🌨️ snowing…

TIP! During garden season as tomato ripen, Cut out the stem off your 🍅tomatoes, freeze them whole (we just place in bags), you can can them later when life slows down—or when Nebraska decides it’s going to snow in planting season 🌨️

That’s exactly what we do…

 Yes, you need a little freezer room otherwise there’s no no fancy setup. No perfect timing. Just planning ahead.

Step 1: Last season’s tomatoes went straight into the freezer—whole, stems and blemishes cut out or off
Step 2: Yesterday we pulled them out instead of planting new ones
Step 3: Let them thaw just enough so the skins slips right off—no blanching needed.  (Run the tomato under warm water. The skin comes right off.)
Step 4:  Let them thaw, (I use a turkey fryer with a strainer) the timing is up to you as they thaw, the longer, the more juice comes off
Step 4: Cooked them down into that rich garden base we all want in winter.
Step 5: Got them into jars and sealed up last summer’s work while it’s snowing outside my window.

This is what real garden life looks like here—adapt, reuse, and don’t waste a thing.
