The idea for my business began when I had my son in March 2011 and I wanted to stay at home with him. Because I started this business in order to stay home with my son, Ashton Ray, I decided to name my business after him, and so began A Ray of Sunshine. I began by putting together a few jellies and jams with fruits and vegetables grown in my garden so I could take them to the local Farmer’s Market

. I hope that as Ashton grows, so will my business, so if there’s something you’d like to have, but don’t see it, please ask me and I’ll see about making it! Stop by the Farmer’s Market every Saturday through October from 7:30 a.m. to see me and Ashton and pick up a few homemade goodies.

Next week is Royal Family Kids Camp - a camp for children experiencing foster care. It is a week-long camp where they will be loved on and celebrated, and most importantly learning about Jesus' love for them. They will have a birthday party - as many foster kids do not get to celebrate their birthday. I have baked each kid their own little birthday cake, they will go to another local baker to be decorated and personalized for each camper! If you are interested in this camp, or becoming a mentor for foster kids, or becoming a foster parent I can lead you in the right direction!

I was finally able to do a full hive inspection on all of our hives. They are doing great! Full frames of brood and tons of bees 🐝 I did a split on two of the hives so they didn't decide to split themselves and find a new home. If all goes well they will notice here shortly that they do not have a queen and will begin the process of making their own. 🤞👑 Every year it is important to leave your dandelions as they are one of the first forms of food in the spring- but this year with the drought it is even more important!

I was so thankful to see bees coming and going from all of our hives today. We were worried about them with the smoke in the area - smoke makes it to where they can't communicate and if they think a fire is close to their hive they will eat as much honey as they can in preparation to leave. We unwrapped them as its going to reach summer temps the next few days! They all still have plenty of food stores to hopefully make it until things start blooming.🌻🐝
