This post may ruffle some feathers, but it needs to be said. Americans are so disconnected from what it takes to get that pork, beef, carrot, tomato or whatever else that small farmer down the street is producing on to your table. Aside from high feed, fuel, fertilizer and processing costs, that small producer is out there with their animals and crops keeping a careful watch on everything. They are putting in hours upon hours during every type of weather imaginable because they are devoted to the care of their animals and produce. They aren't taking shortcuts. What they grow matters to them. Who it doesn't matter to is the mass production factories. They are spraying your food with chemicals nine ways to Sunday with heaven only knows what all. Cramming animals into pens and cages and having to pump them full of drugs to keep infections at bay. It's strictly quantity over quality. Dollar signs. The local guy that sells his beef? He cares about the quality of each animal he has raised and butchered. The person selling tomatoes and cucumbers under the shade tree in their front yard? They care. And that care comes at a cost. We can't compete with the grocery stores as far as price, but we can compete with them on quality - and we will win every single time. I urge you to consider what went into getting that pig or cow from birth to packaged meat next time you see the price.

New Farm item!!! Coming soon!
MUSHROOMS!!!
Back Story!!!
A while back we had a bad storm that knocked down a bunch of trees on the property. Mom had several sheds that were destroyed. After getting some of the trees removed she decided to put the others to use! So after investigating what she could do with them she decided to grow mushrooms!!!
Mushrooms like oak trees, humid climate, in shady areas. So she ordered mushroom plugs and supplies! We have inoculated our fallen oaks with shiitake, oyster, chicken in the woods, and lions mane!!!
Should be ready to harvest in the early fall!!! Stay tuned for updates!
