From the Farm to the Board — Celebrating Monarch Month 🦋🌿
Yesterday, I made a special trip to EarthDance Organic Farm School in Ferguson to gather locally grown ingredients for today’s Social Graze workshop at the Butterfly House.
What started as a search for beautiful, seasonal ingredients became something much more meaningful—a chance to connect our food, our farms and the importance of pollinators.
EarthDance is a USDA Certified Organic teaching farm whose mission is rooted in education, community, sustainable agriculture and connecting people to the land. Their farm uses practices that support healthy soil and healthy ecosystems, while also creating habitat for pollinators. 🌱🦋
And we are so grateful that EarthDance went a step further and provided special ingredients for today's workshop—including paw paws, elderberries and fresh dill and parsley—for us to incorporate into our presentation and boards.
Have you ever had a paw paw? 🌿
Often called America's forgotten fruit, paw paws are a native North American fruit with a creamy texture and tropical flavor. They ripen in late summer and early fall.
We'll also be featuring elderberries, dill and parsley, giving our guests the opportunity to experience local ingredients in a completely different way—not simply as food, but as part of the story of the land where we live.
And that story is particularly important during Monarch Month.
So today at the Butterfly House, our guests won't just be learning how to create a beautiful grazing board.
We'll be talking about where our food comes from, what grows in our own region, organic farming, native plants, pollinators and the connection between healthy soil, healthy food and a healthy ecosystem.
And we'll get to taste a little bit of that story, too.

A beautiful reminder that food connects us to the land, and sometimes the most meaningful ingredients are the ones growing right in our own backyard.
A very special thank you to EarthDance Organic Farm School for helping us make today's Monarch Month workshop even more special and educational. 💚
