FREE Planter Box Workshop - Saturday, Aug 24th

Join us at the Freedom Farmers' Market on Saturday, Aug 24th, 2024, 11 am - 1 pm to experience the connection of SELF, NATURE & SPIRIT with Kenneth Franklin owner of http://PLANTLYPH.com.
Participants will construct a 9in x 9in planter box representing the Body, which needs to be strong and sturdy to protect the contents inside. Learn the essentials of building the soil, and how microorganisms work to break down matter to make it consumable for plants. Participants will paint the planter box to give it character and identity bringing it to Lyph. Planting seeds (transplanting seedlings), and watering them as they grow represents the thoughts we plant in our minds as well as the food we consume entering into our bodies, either allowing the flower to thrive, fulfilling maximum potential, or struggle, leading to death. Everything that exists has a Lyph cycle and once our bodies break down, we turn to dirt, becoming fertilizer for the earth, but the seeds we leave behind will continue to cultivate the world, physically and metaphysically. Lyph is everlasting.

Email [email protected] or show up at 11 am to join Kenneth on Aug 24th, 4521 Telegraph Ave, Oakland.

We are excited to announce the 11th Season Opening of the Freedom Farmers' Market on Sat, July 13th, 9 am - 6 pm.
The Freedom Farmers' Market is more than just a place to buy fresh, local food grown by Black farmers. The Freedom Farmers’ Market is a community hub inspired by the farmers' dedication to healthy land, community, and preserving traditional Legacy Food crops. Founded in 2013 by cultural anthropologist and filmmaker Dr. Gail Myers, Freedom Farmers’ Market is named after the courageous freedom fighter, Fannie Lou Hamer and her Freedom Farm.

Join us for the Season Opening and sign up at 11:30 am to participate in the Annual Watermelon Eating Contest. Meet the farmers, and purchase okra, purple hull peas, heirloom tomatoes, sweet potatoes, collard greens, grapes, raisins, walnuts, almonds, almond butter, eggs, artisan bread, a variety of jams, jelly and so much more.

This year the Season Opening will take place in conjunction with the Temescal Street Fair.

Hope to see you there!
