I have been doing a terrible job of keeping up with our hen roster. I’ve missed the last two Tuesdays.
So without further ado, here is one of our highly sought after breeds, this is CUPCAKE! Cupcake is a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte. The reason why this breed is so highly sought after is because their coloring is very rare and beautiful. Our cupcake isn’t necessarily a “show quality bird” but we think she’s pretty darn beautiful. 
Wyandottes are known for being sweet and docile birds. While that’s pretty typical I cannot say that for our Cupcake she’s actually pretty nasty. She is frequently what us chicken tenders call “Broody“.  What this means is she often decides she is wanting to sit on her eggs and try to hatch them out.
When she does this, she refuses to eat and is at risk at hurting herself or another hen, or well ME 😂. She is quite snippy and puffs herself out real big. The problem is she doesn’t necessarily always have EGGS underneath of her. So she’s not the best mother or if she does have an egg, then she’ll walk away from it and then when you go to pick it from her, she will fluff up and scream at you. So yeah, we’re not big fans of Cupcake, but we love her anyway! 😂😂
Cupcake lays a creamy tan egg and if you look close enough, it has white teeny tiny spots on it. Keep eyes out for this grumpkin’s eggs in your dozens!
