Mornin! Y'all good? Do anything over the weekend?? We just piddled around. Fixed a couple of racks of ribs, some squash and brocolli. It's right purty..the brocolli..it's not what we usually plant(Walthams 29) but it'll hold it's own. This is Goliath, but the heads are actually running smaller than the other. No excess yet. We've been gobbling up everything that's been cut.
We're picking a few squashes. They're running on the small side, we're a squash hongry right now and they ain't getting in any grow time. Know what I mean? Plus, both are a new variety, less for the market and more eatin up right outen the garden, soooo...It looks like they produce a lot of smaller squashes
I'm going to cut a few cabbage tomorrow the pot. They'll be ready the middle to the end of next week for real but I'm a gettin cabbage hongry. I did one of those .99 cent lb. Boston Butts in the crockery pot for the JDog, Monday, so I have this jar of piggy stock, a sittin in the Kelvinator, a waitin. Anyway, the dry weather has kept them small but what's afraid of is this rain is going to accelerate their growth. These were the ones we seeded back ..Dec.27th, so the plants have matured out (90 days) and what is it..first of June? What we're 120 days in, so I'm pretty sure with this rain..they're going to go into overdrive.
I have managed to get Cubbett re-assembled. She's running good. Steers, drives okay. Serviced, new belts, new drive pulleys, changed the oil in the hydro-drive. Did a shakedown, some mowing. Making sure. Didn't finish up mowing though, the fuel bottles are empty and I was waiting till the sparrow poops in my bank account before running by the gas station. I have managed to run the month on 1 tank of gas in La Toya and still have about a quarter left. But both Big John and Cubbett's tanks are down into the 1/8th level, sooooo...
The next piddlin place, I reckon is to get this pile if parts assembled into a working cultivator. The rains going to let off soon and things are a goin to need cultivating. So while it's sorta dry, I gotta drag out an extension cord, and with a cut off wheel on a 7 inch grinder, cut those few fasteners that 65+ years of circumstances have made them unworkable.
Okie, doke? Y'all take care!!
