How We Farm:
We are dedicated organic farmers, although after many years of being certified with Oregon Tilth we are deciding to opt out of certification this year. As we shift to more direct sales with a focus on small, local clients, we hope to cultivate the sort of customer relationship that makes a third-party certification unnecessary. Above all else, we are striving to produce healthy food
that isn't contaminated, adulterated, or loaded down with hidden costs. We use simple organic agriculture, building soil with compost, manure, and cover crop rotations to keep up fertility without resorting to energy-intensive synthetic fertilizers. We don't spray out of principle, and frankly we don't have so many weeds or pests that we need to. We grow according to the seasons (with a little help from the greenhouse), and we ferment, can, and cellar a prodigious amount of our harvest. We also put our food dehydrators to good use and hope to have some surplus dried fruits on offer later this season. Our goal is to be self-sufficient, but not independent. We are starting small and hoping to grow with our market. Our dream is not to get rich, or change the world, but make a small and positive change to our environment and our community.
