Well, we've made it through a smokey, blustery, and rainy August! The Oroville Farmers Market has 2 full months of produce, crafts, activities, and great live music left to enjoy. There's lots of fresh in-season produce now. Stock up to make your pickles, salsas and sauces.
During the week we'll have some wet weather, then drying out to bring out the sun with some clouds on Saturday with 70 degrees. That's what the weather man says today. πŸ™‚
Larry K Music will brush aside the grey skies, beginning at 10 am.

It's not too early to think of gift buying. We have a nice selection of wooden kitchenware, decorated towels, and floral bouquets for the table. Look for artistic painted bags, wine stoppers, and pictures, plus scents, tees, hats, bags, jewelry, and skin care items.
Something for the home. Something for your friend. Something for you!

Keep in mind: Saturday, September 19, 9am to 1pm: Health Care and Resources Day with Β½ of Appleway Street closed to make room for the many out-of-town vendors with information, activities, and services. This is a whole family event with something for all ages. Don't miss this!

I have 2 posters to share today: one is our farmers market poster. I am stressing the Sun Bucks and EBT usage at the market at this time. We can match up to $10 each week which stretches the family's food budget plus buys the freshest in-season produce. Larry K Music starts at 10 am.

The other poster is to share with those who are adversely affected by this continued smokey air. Family Health Centers has a limited supply of N95 face masks and are also giving out 20" by 20" air filters to fit most room fans. The facemasks and filters can be picked up at FHC medical and dental clinics. The room filters are donated by the Okanogan County Health Dept. You can also pick up one there, if in Okanogan. And I fully expect facemasks are available there, too.

I expect heavier dew and 90s this week, cooling off by the weekend, with possible showers.
We could really use a lot of rain - without the lightning!

Keep in mind: Sat., Aug. 29: Ashley Vowels sings; kids' crafts and mystery pool for the little ones. End of Summer - Beginning of School Year.

Another smokey morning! I hope you are all safe and healthy!

Weather reports some cooler temps and possibly a shower or two before the weekend. Sounds good to me!
During this smokey time, I am focused on getting the message out that EBT and Sun Bucks users can get $10 free when they use their card at the farmers market. It helps stretch their grocery dollars, plus they will be buying the freshest produce in town. Melons, peppers, maters, taters, cukes, zukes, garlic, herbs.
Art works that are functional - wood, fabric, paintings - or decorative to be enjoyed, like floral bouquets.

Rockin' Robin will start his great musical sets at 10am. Sit and listen with friends. Eat and visit at our 4 bright and inviting picnic tables. Cookies, bakery ymmies, fruit juices, dogs, tamales, and more. I'm hungry already!
See you Saturday, August 15.

I hope all is well with you. I know it has been a very stressful week with some of you having had to temporarily evacuate! We had a clear day or two and now the smoke is back.

The Farmers Market will be open as usual this Saturday, 9 am to 1 pm with lots of our favorite summer foods - corn, maters, taters, cukes, zukes, and melons! Plus, there's eggs, honey, USDA Pork & Lamb. There are very interesting kitchen gifts: utensil mobiles, scrubbies and towels, and John's wooden cutting boards, bowls, and spoons. Beautiful Fresh cut flower bouquets!
Larry K Music from 10 to about 12:30, should blow the smoke away! It will lift our moods anyway. πŸ™‚
Don't forget Maria's Hot Dogs and fresh juices, The Tamale Guys and Steephill Cookies!

I hope your summer day is not too hot and with clearer skies!
I have good news and bad news. First the good πŸ™‚:
Larry K Music is back playing classic rock for us. Look for peaches, taters and maters, cukes and zukes, with my favorite: berries. These will all go fast! Steve and Cheryl will show off more of their beautiful wrapped lariat bowls. If you want custom made hardwood cutting boards for gifts, you need to talk to John now. Maria has beautiful, fancy dresses and shoes for little girls' special events. Amy's jewelry, hats and bags fill a booth and Jose stays busy knotting more. Ann's pouring paint creations - canvass, bottles, bags, and wine stoppers - are a creative addition to any home. Munch on Stacey's tasty freeze-dried candies and fruits at the market or take home locally raised USDA pork or lamb. This is a very short list of great things to see.

Now the bad news πŸ™:
A complaint was made to the city hall by the owner of Coleman's Gas about the vehicles parking on his paved property and blocking the pumps. The market has Hold Harmless Agreements with Gebbers' (west of the park) and Northwest Wholesale (just south of the gas pumps). We must use these 2 parking lots.

I have someone asking for 50 ears of corn if any vendors have some available. Nadia

Today! USDA pork, pork fat for lard, fresh cut flower bouquets, cribbage boards, local honey, tamales, hot dogs, produce, produce, produce! Onions, rhubarb, lettuce - lots more! baskets, permanent jewelry, paintings, child author

Oroville Farmers Market, held every Saturday, is open from 9 am to 1 pm, in the best location: downtown Oroville.

Produce is really coming on now: Some raspberries and apricots are still available. Early peaches are showing up, and so are cherry tomatoes, new taters, zucchinis, cucumbers, dill, onions, kale, garlic, and salad greens that are clean and safe!! Add eggs, USDA Lamb meat, and honey to your shopping list. Buy local and eat well. πŸ™‚

Music: Ashley Vowels' soothing voice starts at 10 am. Hungry? Expect the Tamale Guys, Maria's Hot Dogs and Goldtown's smoked meats. Plus cookies and freeze dried candy. Yum...
