Holy submission is a road we walk by faith, not by perfection.

Scripture calls us to do good and not fear what is frightening. It calls us to entrust ourselves to a faithful Creator while doing good. It reminds us that Christ Himself suffered without reviling in return, but continued entrusting Himself to Him who judges justly.

So let’s fix our eyes on Christ together.

Let’s love God first, trust His ways, and ask Him to teach us how to love, respect, forgive, and respond with gentleness.

Not from fear.
Not from striving.
But from a heart anchored in Him.

We can keep doing good because our hope is in the Lord. 🤍

1 Peter 3:4-6
Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands,

like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.

Celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary today.
We are just two needy sinners trying to love one another as Christ has loved us. We love one another so imperfectly, but God loves us perfectly. So, onto Him alone we cling, even as we cling to one another. Through laughter and tears, for better and for worse, for richer and for poorer, in health and in sickness, during times when we are at a loss with one another, it is God who keeps us together, as He has from the beginning. It was God who brought us together, and it is He who keeps us.

Mark 10:9
What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.

Table Talk: You Can Be Faithful and Still Be Wounded

You can love the Lord, obey Him, and still carry wounds.

Many women quietly believe that if they were truly faithful, they wouldn’t feel so hurt, discouraged, or weary. But Scripture shows us that faithful believers can still suffer. Sometimes the hardest seasons are not the result of rebellion but simply the reality of living in a fallen world. A woman may be loving her family, trying to obey Christ, serving quietly day after day and still feel deeply wounded.

Being wounded does not mean you are faithless.
It means you are human. God never promised that faithfulness would remove every hardship. What He promises instead is His presence in the middle of it.
Scripture even acknowledges that believers may suffer while doing what is right:

1 Peter 4:19
Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.

When we suffer while trying to walk faithfully, we are to entrust our souls to the One who created us in continuing to do good.

The Christian life is not the absence of suffering.
It is walking with Christ through it.
And even in our wounds, the Lord remains near.

Psalm 34:18
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

The sweetest kind of home isn’t built with walls.

It’s built with people.
Loving one another.
Forgiving one another.
Bearing with one another.

Moments like this remind me that home is wherever we are together. 🤍

Colossians 3:14
Above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

Homemaking is NOT the first priority.

Devotion to the Lord is.
Caring for our homes and families is good, meaningful work but it flows out of a heart first given to Christ.
Apart from Him, I can do nothing.

When He is first, everything else finds its proper place. 🤍

This evening I watched my husband standing with our son. My son had his eyes fixed on him smiling, talking back and forth, feeling safe. Then my husband stood up to chat with me.

He was still right there, but my son’s eyes weren’t fixed on him anymore.

He seemed unsure for a moment, almost like he forgot his dad was still near.

It reminded me how easily I can be the same with God.
When I’m focused on Him, my heart feels settled.
When I look away, even though He hasn’t moved, I feel unsettled.

The Lord doesn’t leave when I lose focus.
My heart just forgets to look to Him.

Isaiah 26:3
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You.

Today we went on a small hike together as a family.

As we walked the trails, I was reminded of the narrow path and how God’s Word is a lamp to our feet.

My husband led the way, and I walked behind. The kids stayed between us. They were free to look around and explore, unafraid.

But whenever one stepped off the trail, they would trip or struggle on uneven ground. When one ran too far ahead, they would stop and come back because they felt scared. And when one fell along the way, we were quick to pick them up, brush them off, and help them keep going.

It felt like such a clear picture of our walk with the Lord.
His ways keep us on steady ground.

When we wander, the path becomes harder than it needs to be. When we run ahead on our own, fear follows.
And when we fall, He is near to lift us and help us walk again.

Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Grateful for the reminders God weaves into ordinary days. 🤍

Here’s a little glimpse of our February so far. 🤍

I’m not sure why this birthday felt different.

It wasn’t big or fancy.
But my heart felt more open to the little things the love in small gestures, the gift of slowing down, the quiet joy of being together.

I think drawing near through being in the word and the Lord being near changes how we experience even the ordinary days.
And this ordinary day felt like a gift. 🤍
