Here is a hive inspection of one of the hives that made it through the winter. This hive is way ahead of the ones that were packages this spring. I have 2 honey supers on this hive. When full, each honey super will weigh upto 60 pounds or more. The bees are very busy!

Today's the day! Come on down to the Owatonna Farmers Market and take a look at all the Uff Da Acres has to offer. We are stocked up on our Jam, Honey, Maple Syrup, and lots of bread!

Back again this week we have our Uff Da Tote Bags - perfect for loading up with all of your farmers market finds! Lots of different T-Shirts and we can custom design any that we don't have on hand just for you.

🍞 Our sourdough flavors this week are:

• NEW this week: Cheddar & Chive - garden-fresh chives and big chunks of cheddar cheese make this loaf great for a lunchtime sandwich or covered in scrambled eggs for a perfect brunch.

• Toasted Garlic & Herbs - a classic for Uff Da Acres, add some nice cheese and make a world-class grilled cheese sandwich, or just slice it thick and slather on some Hope Butter.

This video shows the final step of the installation process. Pretty cool. We will come back in a few days and remove the top empty box and all the other extra stuff in there and let them do their thing. It will take a little bit before the queen starts to lay eggs. Once she starts to lay eggs it will take approximately 20 days before the new worker bees will be out foraging for pollen and nectar. The new bees will forage for approximately 20-25 days which is their life span ( roughly 45 days total). The 1 bee will visit 10k flowers and produce 1 teaspoon of honey in it's lifetime. I find it a fascinating hobby!

We picked up the new bees for this spring. We did have 2 of our 3 hives make it through the winter this year, first time ever! So now we will have 5 hives which is the most ever also. Lots of Uffda honey coming in the fall.

Lots of activity at the hive today. If you look close you can see some almost dark cream colored pollen on the back legs of some bees as they fly back into.the hive. Seeing the different colors of pollen on the back legs is really cool to watch during the late spring and summer. They are still doing their spring cleaning! I will not open the hive up again until sometime in mid April and then I will also take the winter wrap off.
