This Lion's Mane is loving the mini fruiting chamber we set up last weekend . This will only yeild 1-2lbs. This gourmet goes great with pastas and is commonly compared to shellfish.

There are also some studies suggest various health benefits from lion's manes, specifically relating to brain function.

Not much growth but conditions are a lot more stable now. My humidifier fan stopped working so I had to put something together until a new fan comes in. Chestnut, Reishi and more Black Pearl Oyster bags got started today as well.

Once the new humidifier fan comes in we have 9 bags of King Oyster ready to fruit.

We have some more varieties on the way! Chestnut and Reshi genetics thanks to Glenn Gaunt over at MycoGen. Glenn is another Owatonna local and a super funguy! He has an amazing set up going over there and will be our main source of genetics moving into the new year.

Unfortunately we had a couple problems with our fruiting blocks. The big one was the winter freeze, temperatures in the tent dropped as low as 50F. Not enough to kill any mycelium, but enough to slow it down.

We also entered the fruiting stage a touch early and one bag got contaminated. Because of this any bags that were in fruiting have been quarantined and a whole bunch of 70% isopropyl alcohol was used.

While both problems can be easily fixed, they have changed our plans for the next few months. Hopefully the next few months can be used to hone our mushroom cultivation skills. An announcement will be made once we are confident in our ability to reliably produce mushrooms. Until then we are to be considered closed and we apologize for getting anyone's hopes up.

Thanks for all the interest we've had this past month! We can't wait to provide a local AND reliable source for fresh mushrooms.

Quick update!
We were hoping to go into fruiting today, but the colder temperatures have slowed the mushrooms down a bit.
Once we go into fruiting we will provide daily updates

Last night we pasteurized 50lbs of sawdust! These 10 bags will get innoculated by the jars either tonight or tomorrow.

We will also innoculate more grain from the same jars for a third generation grow.

We are hoping for 5lbs of mushrooms from the first generation and around 15-20lbs from the second and third generations.

Our first harvest will be sold by the pound, however all future harvest will be sold by the box.

This pressure canner is older than I am! Manufactured in 1974 these vintage Golden Harvest prestos were built to last. I have the 12qt model but have my eyes on the 21qt model.

This is ~6lbs of sawdust and ~3lbs of grain and it will cook at 15psi for 180 minutes. Follow our page for more updates!

We are testing the limits of our pressure sterilizer tonight. This will make three 4lb bags of supplemented sawdust.
