Our 2 LGD pups were doing so well with all the grown chickens. They quit breaking into the coop, retired from chasing escapees, and even left the chicks in the barn alone.
This afternoon I came outside to collect eggs and found 2 chicks by the water spigot (aka, the dogs hangout area)
My suspicion is that the chicks either fled the coop/found a way out, and were grabbed, or the dogs weaseled their way in and took advantage of the unattended babies...

The chicks were given a proper "burial": being flung over the fence, and 2 acres away for a hungry coyote to find, continuing the circle of life
