Some mornings you wake up and wonder if it’s worth continuing to share so much of yourselves online.

When Brenton and I opened The Italian Princess, we didn’t just want to open a restaurant. We wanted to create the kind of place we grew up loving… where recipes are passed down through family, where the bread is made by hand before the sun comes up, where the bagels are rolled one by one, and where every meal is made with the same care we’d put into feeding our own family.

We also made the decision to run this page a little differently. Instead of using it as nothing more than an advertisement, we chose to invite you into our lives. We’ve shared our victories, our struggles, our family traditions, and even some of the hardest moments we’ve ever experienced.

The truth is, when you choose to be that open, you also open the door to criticism, ridicule, and sometimes unbelievable cruelty.

Lately, some of the hateful comments have been hard to ignore. Some have even used the most painful parts of our family’s journey as something to mock. We’d be lying if we said it hasn’t hurt.

But this morning, we’re making a choice.

We’re choosing to keep doing what we love.

We’re choosing to keep waking up before dawn to bake fresh bread and hand-roll bagels.

We’re choosing to keep making the recipes that have been in our family for generations.

We’re choosing to keep believing that kindness is louder than cruelty.

And yes… we’re still going to keep sharing our lives with you, because the overwhelming majority of you have reminded us why we started this journey in the first place.

As for the photos we’re posting today… we’re sure someone will probably say they’re AI-generated. We smile when we read those comments because if you’ve ever walked through our doors, you already know the truth.

These aren’t made by AI.

They’re made by Brenton and me… along with our family, in our little kitchen, covered in flour, running on early mornings, sore feet, sore backs, very little sleep, but yet, still a whole lot of love is put into every single thing that we cook, bake, and prepare for you.

To everyone who has supported us, defended us, shared our posts, left a kind comment, or simply chosen us for breakfast or dinner… thank you. You have no idea how much your kindness carries us through the difficult days.

Now, enough about the negativity.

Let’s get back to doing what we love.
