I grew up in Paris and in the late 1980s decided to come to New York City to check out what was happening on the other side of the Atlantic. I felt the intense energy in NY; people were walking so fast and always rushing to get somewhere. From day one, I started to observe the way Americans live, work, play, eat, etc....That was the best way for me to adapt to this new culture, so different, yet s
o close to mine in many ways! I noticed several food related facts - I saw people in the NY city streets eating while walking or driving, eating anytime of the day or night and portions were really large. You could walk into any restaurant at any hour of the day and get some food. There was no set meal times, no discipline that I could see. In my professional life, I have been involved mostly in the perfume and beauty industry. But about six years ago, I started to pay more attention to food. I started to understand ingredients, conventional versus organic produce, vitamin and mineral content in foods, and why they are good or bad for us. I read many books on food and nutrition, trying to learn all that I could. I have to agree with most people - that there is a huge health crisis due to bad foods and bad food habits. There's a massive crisis in the food industry as well. Millions of people are eating badly, are overweight, and are forever stuck in a dangerous food maze. Between what their doctors say, what they read in the media, hear on tv or radio and see on social media - people have become desperate with their ongoing battle with food. They try so many different "diets or plans" and nothing works! People are being abused by the system. The reality is much simpler than what doctors, fitness coaches, nutritionists and health gurus are telling you. Those who are lost must go back to our roots. We must all reconnect with real food, natural food like vegetables, salads, fruits, legumes, nuts and non processed meats, wild fish and artisan cheeses. People can learn to love food again and have a positive relationship with food. No diets, no ratios, no quotas, no liquid diets and no calorie counting. People must rediscover the taste of real food, the smell, the touch, how food is made, how it's grown, the right seasons for fruits and vegetables. Food was always very important in my family and my Mediterranean, Jewish heritage. Food was cooked and prepared at home lovingly by mothers and grandmothers. Food meant family gatherings, joy, celebrations and love. I have such fond memories of endless dinners or long leisurely lunches on the weekends and during vacations. We took the time to enjoy the food, to smell it, savour it, admire it and thank our mothers and grandmothers. I know that with my French heritage, my love for food, my culture and my understanding of American society, I can help you reconnect with real food and build a positive relationship with food. I will teach you how to enjoy all kinds of meals with no fear or anxiety. You can enjoy sweet, salty, fats, etc....
With some basic French principles, I will help you love food again and love your body too!
