Most people see the farmers market on Saturday.

What they don’t see is Friday afternoon.

Right now I’m working through the vendor lineup for tomorrow’s market. More than 125 vendors, multiple moving parts, two events sharing the same space, equipment rentals, setup logistics, customer flow, vendor requests, and a hundred little details that all have to fit together.

Every week it’s a giant puzzle.

Move one vendor and it affects another. Adjust a food truck and it changes traffic flow. Accommodate a special request and suddenly three other pieces need to move too.

Some people would probably find it frustrating. I actually enjoy it!

There’s something rewarding about bringing together over 100 local small businesses and helping create a successful market day for vendors, customers, and the community.

Tomorrow morning, most people will simply see a farmers market.

Tonight, I’m just trying to make all the pieces fit. 💚🌻

I’m really excited to officially welcome Jessica Hayes to the Anchored Market Ventures team! 🎉

Jessica is joining AMV as our Executive Operations Coordinator, and I truly believe she’s going to be a huge asset not only to AMV, but to our vendors, market communities, and everything we’re continuing to build together.

As many of you know, AMV has grown into a whole lot more than just setting up farmers markets each week. Behind the scenes there are constantly emails, vendor communications, scheduling, logistics, planning, systems, partnerships, social media, growth projects, and about a thousand moving pieces happening at once. As we continue growing, I knew it was important to bring in the right people who genuinely care about people, community, and helping things run better for everyone involved.

Jessica brings professionalism, organization, positivity, leadership, and a heart for helping people succeed. One of the biggest goals for her role is helping us continue improving communication, organization, and support for the incredible vendors and communities that make AMV what it is.

As a veteran-owned and operated business, I’m also proud to welcome another military family into the AMV team. Those of us connected to the military community understand service, sacrifice, adaptability, resilience, and commitment, and those values align strongly with the culture we’re building here.

At the end of the day, none of this happens without our vendors, supporters, market families, team members, and community believing in what we’re doing. I’m incredibly thankful for that support, and I’m excited for what the future looks like as we continue growing together.

Sometimes the biggest work behind a farmers market happens long before the first tent goes up on Saturday morning.

This past Friday, while we were driving back from our family vacation in Port Canaveral, Alicia called with an unexpected situation. While preparing equipment for the Panama City Farmers’ Market, one of our trailer axles failed.

In operations, things happen. Equipment breaks. Challenges arise. What matters most is how a team responds.

Alicia and Jim immediately went into problem-solving mode, working quickly to secure help and keep preparations moving forward. Discount Towing responded incredibly fast and safely transported the trailer to AMW Trailers, whose team went above and beyond for us. They repaired the axle, replaced all four hubs, completed a full brake job on all four wheels, inspected the trailer thoroughly, and helped get us operational again in time for market day.

When I arrived back in Panama City, Alicia and I reloaded equipment and finalized preparations for Saturday’s market while also developing contingency plans in case repairs could not be completed in time.

At one point during all of this, it hit me…three retired Navy Chiefs were quietly working together behind the scenes, adapting, overcoming problems, and making sure the mission continued so our vendors, community, and downtown could have a successful market day Saturday morning.

No drama.
No excuses.

Just teamwork, leadership, experience, and a commitment to the community we serve.

I’m incredibly grateful for Alicia and Jim stepping up in a big way, and deeply appreciative of Discount Towing and AMW Trailers for their professionalism, responsiveness, and support of our local community.

Most people never see the moving pieces behind the scenes that help make market day possible, but moments like this are a reminder of how many good people come together to support something bigger than themselves.

And thanks to that teamwork, the market was ready to go Saturday morning. ❤️

Market observation today:

The busiest booths weren’t the cheapest…

They were the clearest.

➡️ Clear product
💲 Clear pricing
🌻 Clear value

Customers don’t want to guess.

They want confidence when they buy. ✅

Before your next market, do this:

Stand 10 feet in front of your booth…

And ask:

👉 ‘Would I stop here?’

Check:

• Can I clearly see the product?
• Are prices easy to read?
• Does this feel inviting or cluttered?

Most vendors never step back and look.

Customers do. 👀

They have a clarity problem.

At a busy market, customers are scanning booths fast.

If they can’t instantly understand:

• What you sell
• What makes it special
• Why it’s worth the price

They keep walking.

You don’t need more customers.

You need clearer communication.

Simple sells. 💡
