🚨🚨🚨Educational Post Only🚨🚨🚨

We’ve been receiving a lot of messages and phone calls to our locations asking about our meat. The president recently approved the import of a substantial amount of South American beef and it has caused many to worry about what they are buying. Combine this with the government investigating Walmart and Kroger over price gouging on ground beef and many people have had many questions.

In lieu of this, we decided to show you the difference first hand of ground beef (80/20 ground chuck) between our stores and the 2 mega giants Walmart and Kroger. We purchased all of these packages on 9/6, receipts in photos, and kept it refrigerated and opened them up this morning. Two days out of date on the 3 packages. We’ve always been of the notion FRESH ground in store is healthier and better, but many claim price is why they shop elsewhere. None of us had ground chuck on sale but we won on price easily. When opening the packages the texture of the meat at both Walmart and Kroger were significantly different than what we sell. We only sell AMERICAN beef. We don’t import or use “Mexican” or “South American” product. Ground beef should not need an ingredient label, as there is 1 ingredient when you are not putting additives or color inside. The tube ground beef shown below was bought the 6th, no idea how long it had been out already, and stays good through 9/21.

How can fresh meat stay good that long?
How does it maintain color on the items that were supposed to go out 9/9?

Our product is the darkest. This is caused by oxidation over the fact we process in store which turns the meat faster. No additives. No preservatives. Not gassed. You can feel the difference in the products. You can taste the difference.

Why pay more and get a less healthy item?
Why have to question what country your meat is from or if it’s been 3D printed?

Fresh sold meats should not stay fresh past the expiration date or for weeks at a time. Kroger did have 1 package start to turn, but the texture was so different and still pricier.

Sometimes shopping local means you pay more. We are always cheaper on fresh meat than both but they can win on other items. We like to have a smiling face check you out, not a machine that you are doing yourself (we have 1 store with a 3 lane uscan that predated our ownership). We pay butchers to process fresh meat at all of our stores.

We believe our customers and staff are the best out there. We make mistakes. All of our stores aren’t updated like a new shiny Walmart or Kroger, but we try to stay clean and partner with our communities to provide a good shopping experience. Next time you drive by our stores or are questioning where to get your food to make for dinner, keep us in mind. Give us a chance. It’s already hard to make it as an independent against the two of them to start. Local stores are dropping off continuously. We need you.
