Cook's Meat Locker, 820 F52 Trail, is owned and operated by the Cook family, which includes brothers Rusty and Steve Cook; Rusty's wife, Amber Cook; and Rusty and Steve's parents, Jim and Connie Coo

k. Rusty and Steve, who define themselves as third generation meat cutters, later added to their experience through other ventures. Steve developed his skills in butchering and processing when he worked eight years for his aunt and uncle, Chuck and Deb Martin, at Roehrkasse Meat Company, Williamsburg. The brothers also gained experience while operating a small business on the side in Holbrook, where they processed deer for friends for about five years. The 4,300 square foot facility includes a slaughter room, processing room, spice room, blast freezer, smoker, hot cooler, aging cooler, retail space and public restroom. Meat products available for sale include tenderloins, ribeye, sirloin steak, hot dogs, chicken breasts, brats, hamburger patties, meatballs, pork chops, ground pork, T-bones, porterhouse, beef shank, stew meat, summer sausage, smoke products, beef jerky, beef sticks and more. The most popular meat product so far is its homemade beef jerky and beef sticks. As a family operation, much of the work is done by the Cooks themselves. Steve and Rusty do butchering and curing of the meat. Amber is in charge of bookkeeping and counter sales. Connie wraps the meat, while Jim works as a senior meat processor.
