This weekend, there was a shooting just a block away from A Better Market. Like many of you, we are feeling it. When violence happens this close to home, it shakes more than one street. It shakes families. It shakes children, seniors, workers, and neighbors who are simply trying to get through the day.
Let me be clear: We may be bent, but we are not broken.
A Better Market is here because this community deserves more than fear. We deserve access to fresh food. We deserve safe streets. We deserve places that remind us that care still exists here. We deserve businesses that do not run away when things get hard.
We opened A Better Market because Paterson deserves better — not just in words, but in action. That means showing up. That means keeping our doors open. That means making sure families can still get fresh produce, healthy food, and support close to home. That means believing in this city even on the days when it hurts.
We are not here because things are easy. We are here because this community is worth fighting for. To our neighbors: we see you, we love you, and we are still here. A Better Market will continue to serve, continue to stand, and continue to believe that better is possible.
