Farmsprout field trip!

We had the privilege of visiting the Youngblood family's sugar cane farm in Baker Florida. We learned a lot about sugar Cane (who knew there are so many varieties) and this families rich history and love for this sugary stalk.

For more than 80 years the Youngblood family gathered sugar cane before winter and produced a true southern delicacy, cane syrup.

Sadly, in November of 2018 the blazing fire beneath cane syrup vats smoldered out for the last time. Mr. Youngblood still grows this southern staple year after year and was gracious enough to let us harvest a few stalks for you.

Duck duck mother goose.

We love our mother duck. Not only is she an awesome mom and grandma in real life, she’s the official mom of our happy little farmily.

She’s the first to lend a helping hand, give a warm smile or a tender hug. If you’re lucky you’ve heard her infectious laugh.

Calling The Farm home now for almost 40 years, you can imagine how special she is to us.

This Mother’s Day, as we all individually honor our loving, nurturing, superhero life-givers we want to celebrate her as our Farm OG Mama.

Like Father like son.

respects his Dad’s ( ) finer epicurean taste buds.

So, when he opened the frig and saw a 6 pack of carefully curated root beer, he headed to The Farm to get his own.

Unlike his father, Jon went his Pennsylvanian roots and choose a variety of birch beer.

His choice extraordinaire? Birch Beer.

We trust Jon.

After all, he bought Dogecoin at .05.

Barbara knows bell peppers.

And that’s not all she knows....

To be honest, we haven’t figured out yet what Barbara doesn’t know.

Barbara is the super connector of all things farm to table.

The produce she selects for your table is nothing but the finest because it matters to her a great deal.

She knows when she provides options from local farmers that you are eating not only a variety of delicious flavors and textures, but also vitamins and minerals.

And fiber.

And phytochemicals ~ which are biologically active substances that help protect against disease.

Barbara knows eating this way is healthy and enjoyable and she wants both for all of her Farmily, friends and community.

Here at The Farm we appreciate our Escambia County Sheriff Deputies!

When you frequent the farm, you’ve probably seen a deputy or two keeping and eye on the place.

Chief Deputy Tommy Lyter is no exception. You’ll find him perusing the aisles making sure everything is just as it should be ~ and he’s no pushover.

In fact this past weekend he arrested another 6 bottles of root beer* for disorderly conduct.

He assured us they would not back.

Thank you Chief Deputy Lyter for keeping The Farm and the Greater Pensacola area safe.

*We will update you on the status of the 6 detainees in the coming weeks.

She is a friend to everyone she meets.

She is a connector of local farmers’ produce to families in the Pensacola area.

She is a food genius.

She knows where your fresh produce is grown, how it was cared for and the path it traveled for arrival.

She knows how to cook all
of the unique veggies at the Farm; and willingly shares her recipes when you drop by for a soda and a chat.
