If you’re ready for a new hot drink, try this fragrant beverage. Tart cherry gives the c***r a little bit of a kick, balanced with a bit of maple syrup. Keep it simple with cinnamon sticks and cloves. The slow cooker infuses the juices with spice and fills the kitchen with warm scents.

Ingredients

2 cinnamon sticks
6 whole cloves
1 quart apple c***r
2 cups tart cherry juice
1 tablespoon maple syrup

Preparation
1) Place cinnamon sticks and cloves in a spice bag or a piece of cheesecloth. Tie to secure.
2) In a slow cooker, combine the c***r, cherry juice, maple syrup and the packet of spices.
3) Set the cooker on high and let cook for 1 hour or until hot. Taste, and if you want a little more syrup, stir it in.

Serving Suggestion
Want even more cherry flavor? Add a handful of dried cherries to the slow cooker. They will plump as they soak up the c***r and release their flavor, leaving you a tender morsel to enjoy at the bottom of your mug of c***r.

For plant-based comfort food, you can’t beat a pan of butter-soft roasted squash and root vegetables. Maple-sage Roasted Vegetables

Ingredients
4 cups winter squash (about 3 pounds)
4 medium parsnips, peeled
1 pound sweet potatoes, peeled
2 tablespoons Field Day olive oil
2 tablespoons fresh sage, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons Field Day maple syrup
2 tablespoons Field Day apple c***r vinegar

Preparation

1) Preheat the oven to 425 F.
2) Peel and seed the squash. Cut the vegetables into uniform ½- to ¾-inch cubes so they will roast evenly. You’ll have about 9 cups of raw vegetables.
3) Combine the vegetables in a large bowl and toss with oil, sage and salt. Spread on two large sheet pans and roast for 20 minutes.
4) While the vegetables roast, stir the maple syrup and apple c***r vinegar in a cup. When the vegetables are tender, drizzle with the syrup-vinegar mixture and use a metal spatula to gently stir. Roast for another 10 minutes.
