Watonga Cheese Factory Watonga Cheese Factory prides itself in its 80-yr tradition to produce rich, handmade cheddar cheese. It was purchased in 2002 by Casey and Brandi Cowan.

Watonga Cheese Factory was founded in 1940 in Watonga, Oklahoma. Then in 2007 tragedy struck when a tropical storm brought 80-mile-an-hour winds and 9 to 11 inches of rain and the factory was destroyed. The City of Perryton, Texas offered incentives to the Cowans to rebuild there and the factory was re-opened in 2010. Watonga Cheese Factory still uses the same recipe and the same equipment that ma

kes them stand out from the rest, and prides itself in its 70-year tradition to produce rich, handmade cheddar cheese full of flavor. In addition to producing all-natural cheddar cheese at it's location, the factory has a retail store where you can buy its mild cheddar, sharp cheddar, bacon cheddar, cheddar pepper, and onion cheddar cheeses. It also sells cheese curds (the freshest part of the cheese before whey is pressed out), along with approximately 50 different kinds of other manufacturers’ cheeses. During the cooler weather seasons, they will ship their products all over the United States.

And if you ask Brandi Cowan, sometimes it just takes the right dog to turn you into a dog person!

We think quite a few dog lovers can relate to that! 😂 Sometimes one special dog comes along, steals your heart and suddenly you can't imagine life without them.

Since today is National Dog Day, give your four-legged best friend a little extra love—and maybe take them for a special outing! 🚗🐾

☕🍦 Many restaurants and coffee shops are known for offering Pup Cups or other doggie treats, including Starbucks, Sonic, Dairy Queen, Dunkin’, Chick-fil-A, Culver’s, Scooter’s Coffee, Dutch Bros, 7 Brew, Bruster’s, Andy’s Frozen Custard and Rita’s.

Some treats may be free, while others require a purchase, and participation varies by location, so check with your local store before heading out.

🧀 The story of Watonga Cheese Factory is one of tradition, determination, and rebuilding. ❤️

In 2002, Casey and Brandi Cowan purchased Watonga Cheese Factory and began rebuilding the company while preserving the cheesemaking tradition that made Watonga Cheese special.

👨‍🧀 Casey spent months learning Watonga Cheese’s signature recipe and time-honored processes under the direction of its original cheesemaker, ensuring that the tradition would continue.

Then, in 2007, Tropical Storm Erin struck Watonga, Oklahoma, destroying the factory. 💔🌧️

But that wasn’t the end of the Watonga Cheese story. 🧀💪
